I have paid more by booking with hotel, so that I could get a nice room for me and my friend to celebrate turning a corner after difficult weeks in our lives. First, twin beds requested were not allocated. This was solved and I had hopes it would be a good stay. From about 10 pm, we had repeated fire alarm sounds until after 11 pm. This was due to people smoking, one level down, by the entrance of hotel. Many other guests were outside their rooms wondering what to do. We could not sleep and we have tried to get TV on. Without success. We did call reception and we had no answer. Do you think connection is in order for 123? Overall I am not pleased and do not plan to return to this hotel ever.

I am sorry to hear that your bedroom was not the standard you expected. As you will have seen, The Old Ship is a traditional hotel with parts that herald back hundreds of years. As much as we try to stay ahead of any issues, inevitably we are caught out occasionally. Please be assured that I have noted your comments and will be ensuring they are addressed by the Maintenance team as quickly as possible. All I hope is that this will not deter you from visiting us again. Kind Regards Jason Bramwell General Manager

We received a very warm welcome from the Parking attendant, receptionist and Porter. This was an indication that we were going to have a lovely time in this friendly hotel. From the trainee receptionist to the porter who has worked at the old ship for 40 years demonstrated to us that this was a happy working environment. The hotel has the charm of bygone years with an old fashioned lift and an armchair that belonged to Winston Churchill. It was lovely to see real old wooden furniture in the spacious regency styled bedrooms. We had great free WiFi in the rooms. The rooms were also very clean and comfortable and the shower worked well providing lovely hot water. Our break was a 2 night deal which included bed, breakfast, a 3 course meal on the first night, a bottle of wine per room and a late 1 pm checkout. The restaurant was amazing serving great food. The maître d’ was friendly and helpful whilst the waiting staff were efficient and knowledgeable. The food choice was good and cooked to perfection ( Well done chef). Not only was the food good the free bottle of wine was also a good quality wine. The hotel is in a great location on the sea front and also close to the Lanes and the Royal Pavilion. My friends and I had such a lovely time at the Old Ship we will definitely make a return visit in the springtime.

Love this hotel. Last time I stayed in June we got a free upgrade. This time in December. Not so lucky. We had a long walk to the main facilities. We had a room at the back of the hotel and it was quite stuffy with a smell of aftershave that was quite overpowering. We are 2sisters that love brighton. We will return but we’ll definitely be requesting a more airy closer room due to our medical conditions. The restaurant food was delicious. All the staff were friendly and professional. See you all again.

Room was very nice, an additional easy chair and something to prevent the door banging through the night with the wind would have made it perfect. Room was a it noisy but that is to be expected given the location. We enjoyed a walk along the sea front and a visit to the pier. Lots of shopping in the lanes and surrounding shops.
