All the staff were very welcoming and helpful. The whole Hotel needs refurbishment. It was clean but very tired. Our room was small. Bed OK. en-suite very small. TV much too high and poor picture. For us Free parking was great. We then got the bus ( using our out of county bus passes) into central Brighton. We did this...

Our room was small but very clean and had everything we required. The bed was extremely comfortable and we slept well. The staff and chef were excellent, friendly and very helpful. We had a lovely evening meal and a huge breakfast, both of which we greatly enjoyed (veggie breakfast - great! - not many places bother to cater for vegetarians)....

The food in this restaurant was wonderful, really enjoyed our meal. The menu has changed since our last visit looked much better! Atmosphere was warm and staff were friendly, will definitely be returning soon!

We went to this restaurant with colleagues on a Sunday. The food in this restaurant is so delicious, atmosphere is very warm, the only thing that could be improved is the service because it took like 15 minutes to have our drinks served. Will be returning.

Just about the worst service and food we have ever received. Took 1 1/2 hours to serve our food. Their excuse - it was busy!! Aside from us we saw a table of 8 - that was it. Most of our food was served Luke warm. The Thai squid was basically 3 tiny pieces of squid served on what appeared...

Visited here two nights in a row for a drink as I was working close by. They have a big bar and seperate lounge. During both my evening visits there was people checking in so the place seems popular. Three men who were also working in the area ordered food and it looked good and they confirmed that to me...

Last month was the second time we have stayed at the Downs and we enjoyed it just as much as last year. If you are thinking of staying in Brighton central with a car then just forget it as prices and facilities are horrendously expensive! Just across the road from the "Downs" you can catch the No 2 and 22...

The room was dated and shabby, maintenance work needs to be carried out around sink as trim is missing. Breakfast is served at 8 am after most people have started work, the hotel said that they would oblige and leave cereal in the fridge with yogurt. Imagine my surprise after an appalling nights sleep to find that the door had...

Service a little dull. Hotel was damp. Decor in need of a little touching up. It is an old hotel that has been split up into more accommodation space - rooms within rooms. OK if you have low-paid labourers working for you that you need to put up somewhere cheap, but not the sort of place you'd take the missus...
