Staying locally we decided to have dinner at the George. We booked a table ahead of time and when we arrived the table reserved was right next to a blazing fire. We asked to move to a table in the corner which we did. The pub became packed and very very noisy so much so we could hardly each each...

This pub and restaurant in Alfriston was one our favorites in this part of England. It's also an Inn, but we were there to have dinner. The food and beer were good, and the service was good. There was a nice crowd that seemed relaxed and enjoying themselves. The décor was quintessentially English pub.

We eat here often as it's not far from us. The quality of food and service has never failed to disappoint. My vegan curry option was fantastic and the burger option was phenomenal! At this time of year they start lighting the fire which is fantastic, so if your booking a table I'd recommend asking to be near the fire!...

We stayed for 2 nights which was too long ! The hotel is over 600 years old so it does have lots of character but the rooms are really frumpy and not cleaned very well. The carpets are dirty and need replacing. We did love the pub with its wood burning fireplace, it really exudes character. The breakfast was good....

Contrary to the reviewer talking about Microwaved food, who must be best friend of the local competition, who did serve frozen chips and scampi, we found the food to be of high quality. It wasnt the cheapest, and desert's were very pricey but the meals we had were worth the price we paid. Definitely not frozen, or microwaved. Everything was...

We have stayed here during the Glyndebourne festival in July 2016; It was my first time at an "inn" but I do not recommend it simply because everything seemed old and dusty in rooms (we even had spiders),you could hear everything that was going on in the other rooms, there is a very weird smell in the room -you had...

Landlord and Lady very welcoming. Great staff and top service. A typical traditional pub, full of character and warmth. Would be great in the winter with open fires. Excellent food. Good rooms although bathroom was a tired but clean and functional. Great breakfast. Ideally placed if walking the South Downs Way. Will be returning.

We stayed for one night while walking the South Downs Way. We accepted that parking was in a street around the back. Inside all looked very olde worldly and yet well kept. Room looked good. However the weather was very warm and the tiny air con unit was hopeless. We could almost accept that but for the price £120 per...

A Brilliant position with pathway from the back garden area, leading directly to the Tye (Village Green), with Church & Bishop's House( National Trust). A really super Olde Worlde Pub with low ceilings, beams & the atmosphere to match + friendly Staff. Sadly, the food did not reach expectation or reputation. I think perhaps we were unlucky, or chose badly...
