I have stayed here on two occasions now whilst I've been visiting Lewes for business. It is a really great traditional inn offering really nice, comfortable rooms and excellent food. The staff are very friendly and the bar area is really nice for a pre and post dinner drink. You have a lot of walkers and tourists staying here so...

All of the many positives that you mentioned have been milestones that we have wanted to meet and exceed, and we are so pleased that this has been recognised. We very much look forward to looking after you again in the very near future, and please do keep...

Today I was with a coach party booked in for lunch at The Star Inn. I was most impressed with the welcome all the staff gave us and the considerate way they led us to our tables (some of the party were quite elderly and infirm including myself!) The tables were beautifully laid with white tablecloths and I particularly noted...

Dear platypusDorset, Thank you for your positive and appreciative review. We are so pleased that you rated our food so highly; we know how important it is to receive proper courteous service, and tasty quality food, and sadly, this can be quite rare! We set high standards for ourselves here at The Star, and it is a pleasure when this...

Four of us dined here on a very busy Saturday night. There was a wedding reception happening, however this is no way impacted negatively on our experience. We were seated in the charming eating area and quickly given menus and a wine list. The waitress was extremely charming. As for the menu, well it was quite a job to choose...

My friends & I walked some of the South Downs Way & stayed at the Star. It was definitely the best place we stayed at on our trip. The rooms were comfortable and clean & had lovely toiletries. Especially the scented massage oil style moisturiser- it definitely eased our aches & pains. Plus we all enjoyed relaxing baths whilst we...

Dear Sarah C, Thank you for such a lovely glowing review of our accommodation and food and also our toiletries! Our housekeepers are a strong hard-working team, and their vital contribution to the success of our business can be invisible to guests, but certainly not to us; I will pass on your comments to them. We are also glad that...

The Star Events Manager (Grace) was extremely helpful in assisting us to arrange a private dinner party for 17 people in The Heritage Room. A great menu was provided from which individuals made their choices some 2 weeks prior to the event, Flowers were provided by Zuzanna from Burgess Hill and what a lovely sight they were on the long...

I would highly recommend staying at this 13th century pub to everyone. With its additional modern complex of rooms it is dog and disabled friendly with a great 'Olde English' atmosphere through to the main pub. My visit included my disabled husband and elderly, fiesty dog the latter enjoying a big fuss from the staff and bonios on arrival and...

Dear SueThomas_13, Thank you for taking the time to review us, and we are so glad that your stay went so well for the humans and the dog! Being dog-friendly is important as so many people wish to travel with their pet, especially here as we are on the South Downs Way. We are delighted that you received proactive and...

I couldn't fault the service, i had breakfast and dinner in there, both times the wait staff were really helpful and friendly, and receptionist staff were the same. The hotel has a lot of character, it's on the South Downs Trail, and all in all it was great. The breakfast was £13.95 because i hadn't booked it to come in...

Alfriston is a small quaint village quintessentially English with a number of cosy pubs and tea rooms. We stayed at The Star as a stopover on the South Downs Way and it cannot be any more convenient for hikers as it is literally on the path.
