Stayed a couple of nights in a smaller room, windows rattly (in the wind) and bathroom a little small - given the price expected a little more. Wonderful setting, lovely gardens and patio areas, good parking. Breakfast adequate, no more, and surprised that they couldn't run to a latte or cappuccino - again, given the price. Well located in the... More

What a time to go! Weather superb, views stunning and the town busy. Didn't stay in the main hotel this time but in the Louisa Lodge (3rd time). Whilst the break was well needed, the communal Lodge area and the room we stayed in were in need of a more detailed clean. Cobwebs in some of the most obvious areas...windows,... More

Eclectic architecture and good location. Friendly helpful staff. Great garden. Breakfasts average. Coffee spalling. No lift in main hotel Thin towels. Beds not great. Other hotels in town may offer better value but Swanage often well booked up because it is such a great place.

Spent 2 nights here with my husband, the hotel is old so you would expect there to creeks and noises. The staff are very friendly, breakfast was lovely with plenty of choice, we did not try the evening menu. Location is excellent and free parking, there are plenty of restaurants and pubs in the town if you don't want to... More

On the plus side: * good location for town * lots of old world charm * comfortable beds * beautiful garden * friendly staff * good parking * free Wi-Fi As other reviews have noted, the hotel is let down by the dated decor and does need a facelift. Some areas are crying out for some TLC (flowers/plants for conservatory... More

The staff here are wonderfully helpful but the room was exceptionally tired with ill-fitting window frames. The weather was very windy and even with the windows shut the bedroom and bathroom doors banged continually because of the gale blowing through the windows, meaning that we woke up continually through the night so not the best night's sleep. Also the curtains... More

My partner and I stayed the Purbeck this week. Our room although recently decorated (decorated in a very 1980s way.) The bathroom was dark and old-fashioned. They were broken sash windows as well as broken glass in the window. The mattress was saggy and the sofa grubby. The breakfast was average at best served in a conservatory with filthy windows.... Just had another long weekend at this lovely hotel. If you can,it is well worth paying the small additional amount to stay in the main house rather than the lodge,as the rooms are individual and have character. The staff are always attentive, remembering names and beverage preferences.

Booked in for 2 night at this hotel. I'd start by saying that the staff were great and really friendly. On the evening we arrived a wedding reception was in progress - we had been advised of this but we were not prepared for the raucous behaviour and bad language that could be heard all over. That said we were... More

I stayed for 5 nights in room 8 upstairs. Outside the door of my room, I looked onto a roof with numerous wires running across it - not nailed or screwed down but running free. Also an old paintbrush, presumably left years ago by the last person to decorate the outside area. My windows no longer functioned correctly and could... More
