Just returned home after a meal for two at the Plume and cannot rate it highly enough !!! - myself and my partner decided to go for the "hot rocks - surf and turf" which is made up of steak, scallops and prawns that you cook yourself at the table - not only was this good fun but both pieces...

We popped in here for Sunday roast without prior booking. We received a lovely welcome and the service was very good. We ordered the roast beef and lamb and it was very tasty and plenty of it. The price was £13.95 which is plenty but I couldn't fault the food. It's certainly worth a try and the decor has been...

We visited the newly refurbished Plume of Feathers which is now under new ownership and management for our anniversary. My husband and I both had the Beef roast which was cooked beautifully by the head chef Marie. The meat was so tender and melted in the mouth and the vegetables were fresh and delicious. The portions are very large, unfortunately...

We came as members of a walking group of 17 people and everyone was very pleased with their meal. The service was attentive and the food from the light bites lunch menu was delicious. We live in the area and would never have considered bringing anyone here in the past. There are teething problems (their wifi was down) but we...

This pub before was a bit run down. Now it's been refurbished very nicely. Went in for a meal off the lunchtime menu which was good. It serves sandwiches, jacket potatoes, fish & chips, sausage and mash, ploughmans and soup of the day. Great improvement on before!!

It is no secret that the newly refurbished Plume have experienced teething problems. Today was my fourth visit and I was joined by seven discerning diners from the Sherborne U3A. We ordered roasts and the locally sourced meats were good; rare beef, and tender pork. Vegetables, although not exciting, were cooked well and it was lovely to taste star anise...

This is the second time we stayed here this year and when I reviewed it previously I said it would be a great place to stay...if some small improvements were made. Unfortunately they weren't! The rooms were a great size but really not very clean, with a rather large cobweb in the bathroom. There was one tiny bin in the...

I know it only cost £35 a night but even for that price I do expect some servicing of the room. In it's favour apart from the price, my room was spacious with a bedroom, bathroom and separate sitting room. The bed was comfortable and there are tea and coffee making facilities provided. One downside was the proximity of the...

My family and I recently attended a wedding at Sherborne Abbey and as it was such a lovely sunny day, we thought we'd call in for a few drinks before the reception. I ordered and paid for several drinks but as soon as I picked up my pint of 6x, it was obvious the barrel 'had gone'. I told the...

This place should have everything going for it - excellent position opposite the Abbey and a very photogenic building - both are wasted. Inside its a bit of a spit and sawdust decor, nothing wrong with that if it's clean and the food is good. Basically the bar is run down. The service was friendly but you did feel an...
