The Grosvenor Arms is newly refurbished, it is traditional yet stylish, relaxed yet ‘buzzy’, and open all day. There are 16 bedrooms to choose from: cosy double, spacious double, deluxe double, balcony double, or suites – each one is beautifully appointed and furnished, decorated in a style appropriate to one of Shaftesbury’s oldest inns, but complete with the modern facilities you expect. You are always welcome, for a drink in the bar, a cup of coffee in the conservatory, or a pizza from the wood oven. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the paved courtyard is always available for an alfresco lunch or drink.

The Grosvenor Arms stands out for its central location and inviting atmosphere, with guests often complimenting the lively, well-decorated spaces and the hotel's overall cleanliness. Many travelers appreciate the spacious and stylish rooms, although some have mentioned dim lighting and noise concerns. The staff receives praise for their friendliness, yet there are occasional mentions of slow service. While the value is a point of contention, with some guests highlighting reasonable prices and others pointing out extra costs, the cozy bar and commendable amenities generally leave a positive impression.

The rooms were superb. The beds like clouds and the service excellent. The breakfast was amazing. I will definitely recommend to anyone and I will certainly be going back. I left my wallet by accident and they even posted it back to London for me by special delivery. All in all a top Hotel and top staff.

Stayed here for one night on our way down to the Dorset coast. Absolutely fabulous hotel, beautifully decorated, with friendly staff and great food. We stayed on the Sunday and enjoyed the tasty Sunday roast. Great dog friendly hotel. Very very happy with our stay and would 100% recommend.

I did not get the room I requested which really impacted my stay. The room were both nice but I wanted a quiet room on the first floor to minimise distance to front door and reduce stair climbing (I was travelling with a young dog). My room was swapped but I was left without a room for a morning and the new room was the furthest from the front door and up 3 flights of stairs. This mattered to me. Nice staff but just too rushed to provide the expected service. This was my second visit.

This is a lovely hotel that we have stayed at before. We were extremely tired after a long flight and the Grosvenor was the perfect way to unwind. The food is very good and generous helpings. The rooms are large and comfortable and the welcome was great. We will certainly visit again.

Very welcoming and comfortable - not a lot more to add! Good breakfast and tasty pizza in evening. Room very large, comfortable bed, clean etc. Situated in the heart of Shaftesbury town. Clearly been revamped in recent years (since last visit) - all to the good. Would definitely stay again

Nice central hotel with lots of character. Comfortable rooms and good bathrooms. The breakfast is well worth having..... lovely quality ingredients, and a meal that will set you up for the rest of the day! The sevice was slow but that may have been due to staff shortage. Happily we were not in a hurry

Visited with a friend for coffee and cake. Such a small selection of cakes that we didn't have one. The coffee didn't really taste of coffee (!)(one latte, one cappuccino) and was not very warm. We left and went to have another coffee at a local chain.

Stopped off in Shaftesbury for coffees on a long homeward car journey, we parked a two minute walk from Grosvenor Arms. Found a table for the three of us without any issue, ordered and paid for coffees, informed there would be a 5 minute delay, which was okay. Fifteen minutes passed, then 20, then 25, then half an hour, then 35 minutes, no coffees came. We only paid to park car for an hour, how long does it take to make three coffees! No one came to apologise for the lengthy delay, we stopped a passing waitress who said she would see what was happening, but she did not come back to us. Enough was enough, asked for our money back and left. Drove on to Sherborne, where we stopped at a nice hotel for coffees, served immediately.
