Travelers' Choice
The Grosvenor Arms is newly refurbished, it is traditional yet stylish, relaxed yet ‘buzzy’, and open all day. There are 16 bedrooms to choose from: cosy double, spacious double, deluxe double, balcony double, or suites – each one is beautifully appointed and furnished, decorated in a style appropriate to one of Shaftesbury’s oldest inns, but complete with the modern facilities you expect. You are always welcome, for a drink in the bar, a cup of coffee in the conservatory, or a pizza from the wood oven. The restaurant is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and the paved courtyard is always available for an alfresco lunch or drink.

Last minute booking on a Sunday, we called the Grosvenor Arms on a whim and boy were we very pleasantly surprised. They got me and my wife a table for 2 right next to the Christmas tree. Ambiance - The way the restaurant is set out if for comfort and space which made the meal a much private experience than I was expecting, which was a really nice touch. Service - Service was great, we were seated straight away and offered water (please note water isn’t free and they didn’t tell us that but hey ho), we were provided a good drinks menu, however all the wines are on the dry side which didn’t suit me and my wife, but each to your own when it comes to drinks. The Meal - the meal was Devine! The BEST presented Sunday Dinner I’ve ever had! I had the triple roast which tasted amazing, it was served really fast and wow it was a meal I never wanted to end. Every thing was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing. If I had to pick a hole, the northerner in me would say the gravy was too thin but it was packed with flavour and having lived down south for years now I expect thin gravy when ordering a meal down south. But as I said the meal was excellently presented and tasted amazing. Will I return again? ABSOLUTELY I will. Thank you to all the staff for an amazing experience and I look forward to coming back.

We stayed here on a Monday night in November. We arrived to check in and were over the moon to find we'd been given a complimentary room upgrade. We opened the door to Room 4 (the Cranborne Suite) and couldn't believe the size of it! The bathroom was absolutely enormous, with easily the biggest shower we'd ever seen. It had a rolltop bath, Bramley toiletries and all the expected luxuries of a room as premium as this. We enjoyed a delicious dinner and breakfast in the restaurant and were seated right by the Christmas tree. The town also had a special Christmas shopping evening to mark the switching on of the Christmas tree and lights, so the atmosphere was fantastic! Special shout out to Danielle and Lana who were both extremely friendly, helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay special. We'll be back!

Booked for business but took my wife. Location was perfect as it dominates the town centre. Layout was smart too, nice bar area with helpful staff. Reception was genuinely pleasant and not corporate generic. Room was spacious and well furnished with modern decor and quality fittings. My wife judges hotels on the bathrooms, this was also a winner with an excellent shower, bath and general fittings. Well done The Grosvenor Arms, your staff do you proud. We will be back.

The hotel is right in the middle of Shaftesbury but parking is nearby (and very well explained on their website). The communication with the hotel was brilliant as was the service we received throughout our stay. The rooms were fabulous.

Hotel was very pleasing with good facilities and an open spacious atmosphere. Parking was not on site and have to use pay as you go public parking which was a few minutes walk away. Breakfast was a bit disappointing with the sausages not as described. Staff were exceptionally helpful.

Lovely quaint old hotel. The stairs lean towards the wall in one place almost throwing you off balance. The room was delightful and big - beautiful shower room and bath in bedroom. Very large and comfortable bed.

Stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful stay. Lovely room with a comfy bed, and a buzzing atmosphere in the hotel. Food was typical pub grub but done nicely. Few nice ales and cocktails Service was good and very helpful Highly recommend when staying in the area

We held our Wedding reception in the Assembly room at the Grosvenor Arms. This Boutique Hotel was just what we were looking for. On entering the establishment I felt a really good vibe. From the smell to the decor and friendly staff .. Danielle from of house was the first port of call and was warm, welcoming and very professional. We booked the Hotel after having a meal ,as a check to see what the service was like. We weren’t disappointed. We booked out all 16 rooms for our guest and we are selves had the Bridal suite for the Friday and Saturday (wedding night). It was stunning, perfect in fact. The wedding booking was easy and Ellie met us in a meeting room over Coffee to design the conjure our wedding experience. We had the Buffet taylor made to our choice of food created by the extremely talented Chef. All our guest were very happy with they’re rooms and the whole experience, and are already planning another stay. We throughly recommend this venue as an amazing place to stay We have become very fond of the staff and will be back on a regular basis from not on 10/10
