We were sceptical about this hotel because photos have always turned out not to be what's on ground for a lot of hotels. This though, is different. The beach is beautiful and only a stone's throw away from the Hotel. We had the seaview room and it felt like I could jump straight into the sea from our window. The... More

Our shelties also made very welcome and we all had lovely sea view room with great shower.Very impressed with southbourne and dogs loved the beaches. My husband and myself booked already for longer stay in June. Thanks to Chris and his... More

....to stay at the Commodore. It is ideally placed on the clifftop at Southbourne opposite the cliff lift and the zig-zag walk to the beach. The accomodation is unfussy and clean and most of the rooms have either direct or oblique sea views. There is a lift to the rooms although during our recent stay it was out of service... More

We had a lovely room overlooking the sea, it had everything you needed for a lovely stay. Enjoyable evening meal and good breakfast. The staff were excellent, friendly, attentive and professional. We would definitely book here again if we were coming up again.

The bad bit first; car parking here is a nightmare. Only 4 spaces and a steep ramp to the side for 2 more cars if you're not blocked in by beach goers!!! Cost us £95 for a single night with breakfast in room 1. Booked through Old English Inns. Staff were very nice and accommodating, beer was great, food could... More

Had a roast dinner today and it was so bad we couldn't stop laughing, the veg was hardly cooked and the meat was like chewing on a piece of leather, I'd definitely not recommended it for the food but for a drink and lovely view it's fine.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commodore Hotel Southbourne near Bournemouth is on the Dorset cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk with easy access from the A31 and A338. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. The Commodores location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town centre, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. A very popular holiday location. There is limited car parking provided by the hotel but ample on-street car parking within a few minutes walk. ... more   less
