Stayed here for a weekend break very warm welcome on arrival. We stayed in room 1 very clean and comfortable, side sea view which was still nice. We ate in the restaurant on other nights thr food was very good quality and very tasty, would definitely stay here again. only problem we found was squeaky floor

Had a roast dinner today and it was so bad we couldn't stop laughing, the veg was hardly cooked and the meat was like chewing on a piece of leather, I'd definitely not recommended it for the food but for a drink and lovely view it's fine.

An lovely old building which has been updated to meet modern standards right on the sea front. All rooms have sea view but we were on the top floor (efficient lift ) and had a clear view from the Needles, on the Isle of Wight across to Sandbanks and Pembroke hills - could even see the sea when laying in... Sunday lunch with elderly mum. Plenty of room for us to eat at 12.30 on a Sunday. Friendly, quick, polite service. Greene King IPA was perfect for a hot Aug PM. Pork and Beef fine but veg cooked to mush. One roast potato, seriously? Anyway we enjoyed it and it isn't expensive (£18 inc drinks for two) but you get... More

Have been several times now for a meal at The Commodore and every time has been really good. It was very busy tonight but food came in a reasonable time - what you need when you have hungry kids waiting. Meals beautifully cooked and puddings great too. All the staff are very attentive and helpful and place has a lovely... More

Rooms were clean and tidy. More spacious than I was expecting. Staff were very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. Right opposite the beach and a walk through the adjacent park takes you into a small suburb of Bournemouth with a great selection of shops and restaurants. Only down side is the hotel is located down a busy residential... More

Myself and my daughter popped into the pub today for lunch, and all staff were fantastic. Very friendly and welcoming. We had a very unpleasant experience at a neighbouring hotel last night and I was able to see the difference between the 2 when I was shown one of the rooms at the commodore. Lovely and clean, sea views, and... More

It fills a need for food at a reasonable price. Nothing to write home about. Its more of a fuel stop than an eatery. I booked a table but it was taken and so we were shoved into a corner. To be fair we were found a better table after we had ordered. I explained I had ordered against a... More

Just come back on a very good deal for this Hotel especially when I heard that the price of the room we had got was the same as I had paid for two nights plus a three course meal on one of the evenings. Had also paid for an upgrade on a front sea view which was worth it. The... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commodore Hotel Southbourne near Bournemouth is on the Dorset cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk with easy access from the A31 and A338. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. The Commodores location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town centre, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. A very popular holiday location. There is limited car parking provided by the hotel but ample on-street car parking within a few minutes walk. ... more   less
