Just come back on a very good deal for this Hotel especially when I heard that the price of the room we had got was the same as I had paid for two nights plus a three course meal on one of the evenings. Had also paid for an upgrade on a front sea view which was worth it. The... More

We love going back to the Commodore - the staff are so kind, patient and friendly. The hotel is fairly basic but clean, comfortable, and with a good varied choice of breakfast menu. Location superb - on the cliff top opposite a zig zag path to the beach and a cliff lift. Car park small, but plenty of free parking... More

What a find! £55 for a massive double room overlooking the sea! Great service from Ben, Jemma and the rest of the team. Thanks for Chris for sorting the room! Parking an issue, but ample parking in nearby roads. Much improve since our last visit!

Pleasant and helpful staff struggling with very average food in a place that has clearly seen better days. The cutlery was dirty and had to be replaced. The lamb shank was quite nice but the beef and ale pie was very poor. Our stay in this area has been blighted by a lack of decent food. Most establishments seem to... More

Very pleasant hotel fantastic sea views from our room & to be fair most of the rooms are sea facing . Perfect location for Southbourne high street nice leisurely walk through fishermens walk & you are at the bottom end of shops . Shame we didn't get the weather but location is perfect for beach right opposite zig zag path... More

We spent one night in the Commodore Hotel and the position is great. Despite very little parking space on the property, there was space on the side roads. The rooms are fine, not pristine but reasonably clean. The meals were lovely. In the morning, when we decided to have a bath, there was no hot water. I told a member... More

We booked three nights as an anniversary celebration in this newly refurbished hostelry. Although the Trip Advisor entry says Hotel it's really a pub with rooms - but a very good one. The public bar is often lively but friendly and there are two or three real ales on tap. The food was very good and we ended up eating... More

We booked this through Booked.com and we certainly weren't disappointed. There is limited spaces for parking outside the hotel, but we managed to find a space in an adjacent road. Very friendly staff, bedroom very nice and had a lovely sea view, en suite shower room, which was quick big. Breakfast was lovely and we ate in the restaurant and... More

Perfect location right on the beach, lovely clean rooms, ours was quite small but had everything we needed and a great sea view. The team were very helpful, nothing was to much trouble in particular Jemma, thank you. The restaurant and bar was also very good, with a good range of food and drinks to sample. We will definitely stay... More

Settled on the commodore to stay for a night away from work, and it was exactly what we needed. Perfect site, nice staff and a great view of the sea from the room. Would definitely use again, especially considering it's very reasonable pricing.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Commodore Hotel Southbourne near Bournemouth is on the Dorset cliff tops at Southbourne adjacent to the cliff lifts and Fisherman's Walk with easy access from the A31 and A338. The spectacular views across Poole bay take in Swanage to the West and Hengistbury Head and the Isle of Wight to the East. The Commodores location, close to the New Forest, and Bournemouth town centre, makes it an ideal base from which to explore Hampshire and Dorset. The Commodore was built in 1928 and was originally called Crawford's Tea Rooms. In the war it was used to house serving American airmen. In the early 50's an extension was added and it became Crawford's Bar and Hotel. Not long after that, it became The Commodore Hotel. A very popular holiday location. There is limited car parking provided by the hotel but ample on-street car parking within a few minutes walk. ... more   less
