My wife and I popped down to Totnes to celebrate my sister in laws graduation. We were originally supposed to stay at Dartington Hall but there was no availability, hence the booking at the Steam Packet. I have to admit, I was very pleasantly surprised. The last time I visited the Steam Packet is was probably trying to buy underage... More

Stopped here for lunch whilst waiting for my cat to be treated at the local vets. I was totally stressed and the staff were very kind and friendly. On receiving good news re Patrick, I celebrated by ordering the hake with chorizo and sundried tomatoes... and it was delicious. Washed it down with a lovely French rose, sitting in the... More

great spot to stay right on the river dart and a short stroll into town, only stayed one night the room was good but could only get into the double bed from one side , the other side against the wall. Bathroom was very good and breakfast excellent. 4 real ales in the bar and a good outside area

Has a brief one night break here and it was a mixed experience. On the plus side, the location is good, although if your room is facing the road rather than the river, it isn't the tranquil stay you might imagine as there is quite a lot of traffic noise if that bothers you although it did die down overnight,... Just returned home today from our second holiday in The Steam Packet Inn. Visited June last year and loved it. Still as impressed this year. Helpful, polite staff who will go the extra mile to make sure you enjoy your stay. Lovely location, close to the town but far enough away from any noise ( apart from in-house entertainment which... Our first visit to Totnes, so selection for lunch was pot luck as there are many choices. The Steam Packet was perfect - good service, a lovely location, we ate in the restaurant, though there is a lovely patio right on the river if the weather is kind to you. Most visitors should find something on the menu to suit... More

Went to this pub after reading other reviews and we were definitely not disappointed! The food was so good, the setting was so pretty and the staff were very friendly. Had a great variety of drinks too which is nice. If you're in the area, definitely go here!

We spent 3 nights and 4 days in The Steam Packet Inn. It's situated by the river a short distance from the center of Totnes and a 10-15 minute walk to the train station. We really enjoyed our stay here. We had a lovely clean, modern room (Room 2) with a lovely big comfy bed and bedding - found it... More

Really good food. Loved the crab linguine so much... had to go home and re-create it... but mine wasn't as good! : ( Service was good and very friendly. The place has got a really lovely vibe and if it hadn't been raining... perfect spot by the river too.
