We arrived at the start of our holiday touring the West Country to sunny Torquay. Weather glorious area beautiful then we checked in and the nightmare began. Room very inadequate for a double it should have been a single. No other rooms available even if we paid they told us. Not told at breakfast that the menu for evening had... More

We arrived on 31st August and were given a very tired room at the back of the hotel in need of decoration and new curtains/bedding. Room was looking out on to a dirty pigeon dropping yard where the kitchen bins stored and noise issues Yard area obviously had a problem with vermin as there were a couple of rat boxes... More

OK, Firstly we had a room with harbour view , very nice view. But these rooms because they are on the front facing harbour and main road do have noise problems i.e deliveries very early in the morning , gate entrance to harbour from about 7am to 9pm keeps bleeping every time it opens , this is not too much... not the guest and woe betide anyone who does not comply with the manager's rules. Location is great. Bedrooms clean but very tired. Rushed dining experience in a cramped, windowless dining room. Basic food; quantities strictly controlled. Some very pleasant, hard-working members of staff who unfortunately can't make up for the depressing nature of this hotel.

Returned last night with my husband, from the Regina. The staff are lovely, the manager came onto the coach, to welcome us, and did the same when we left. The hotel is across the road from the picturesque port, it really is in a beautiful location. The hotel itself is comfortable if a bit tired in places. The food is... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Regina Hotel - Torquay - (3 Alpha grading - AA three star). Wonderfully situated on the harbour side with the principal shops and theatre a short stroll away. Part of the Regina is interesting as the home of the poet Elizabeth Barrett Browning. Relaxing bar lounge, air conditioned restaurant and lively bar with dance floor and entertainment most evenings. Limited parking at the hotel but plenty of commercial parking close by. Lift serves many rooms but the hotel consists of several Georgian and Victorian buildings and there are many changes of level. ... more   less
