We decided to flee the cold for a few days and this family run hotel offered a good value four-day break in Torquay. On arrival we were made most welcome. We had a warm and comfortable room with a soft bed. Breakfast and evening meals buffet-style offered a good choice of dishes which were well cooked and presented. There was...

Myself and my partner stayed here last night, after Christmas we were just looking for a cheap night away and came across this. We are both in our 20's and just wanted somewhere close the beach in Devon. After reading reviews on here I was slightly worried about what we would find.. but from the moment we pulled up in...

My wife and I stayed for New years Eve and enjoyed the excellent 6 course Gala dinner. The hard working staff are a credit to the hotel providing a very pleasant time. We have stayed in a number of hotels in Torquay that do not come up to the high standards of the Anchorage in terms of comfort, quality and service....

We stayed here for one night, thank goodness it was no more! The place is terrible! I paid more for a large double room which actually meant two single beds pushed together. The walls are so thin we could clearly hear everything the next room were saying. It was New Year's Eve so we knew people would be still awake...

Just arrived back from a long weekend. We received a warm welcome & thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The dining area had been refurbished since our last visit & we thought the buffet style service worked really well. All the staff do a really good job.

I booked a room and had to cancel at short notice on the day because my partner had been taken into hospital and I had to return home that night. I was charged for the room despite being told I would receive a phone call to discuss my situation. I'm not a spiteful person, but this is bad customer service....

We thought we were in a Fawlty Towers theme week-end Hotel. The service was absolutely rubbish, as was the food served. Bar prices were high and confusing, choices of beers poor and limited. Entertainment went from average to torture over the three night stay. The person who claimed he was a General Manager, also played the parts of the Waiter,...

Hello Baza9 Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are glad to hear that you noticed the General Manager working and supporting the staff where needed during your stay. The Anchorage is a small family run business where the family are actively involved in the day to day running of the hotel so you...

Visited with a coach full of people for a 'turkey and tinsel ' weekend. The meals served were awful..with the exception of breakfast which was good...the beer was awful and overpriced..no lager glasses...tasteless...the rooms definitely need a lick of paint...the money the hotel paid to the charm school to train the staff was a waste...the ' entertainment' was extremely average at...

The place was smelly and evening meal was avoided and we could not face their breakfast bar and the waiter with a real attitude problem. WiFi signal was non-existence so if you need it you have to checking in desk.
