This was a work related trip so booked direct through company booking system. It was my first stay at the hotel and overall it was pleasant. A good base for a couple of nights albeit it seemed to accommodate older clients. I personally would not stay with young children. The room was comfortable however a little outdated and the window... This has to be one of the oddest hotels I have ever stayed in. It dates back to the 1920s and gives a firm impression that not a lot has happened to it since that time. The place is absolutely vast, the dining room seems to go on for ever. There were quite a few guests, but we appeared to... More

Arrived at the hotel to be greeted by friendly, helpful staff making check in a pleasant experience. The room was large with high ceilings and although spotlessly clean was looking a bit tired. The look and feel of the hotel reception and dinning area was very grand and reminicent of large hotels of that era. The staff were always friendly... More

This is not a hotel we can recommend in any way. It was far too expensive for what it was at £150 per night for a double room. That is dearer than many London hotels. If the hotel was luxurious the price may have been justified but as you will read it needs the hotel inspector to pay a visit.... More

This hotel is dated, I get that, BUT what a wonderful example of a grand bygone age. Lots of things are old fashioned which add to the charm of the place & you know what? They all still work. The bathrooms maybe dated but they are beautifully looked after & worked as they are supposed to. I felt like I... More

We came here 5 months ago and had a wonderful time, just came back from our 2nd visit this time it was our wedding anniversary and it was equally as good. It was a coincidence as we stayed in exactly the same room still very clean and nicely presented. We had a drink in the bar, prices not bad and... More

I've read reviews of this Hotel on Tripadvisor, most refer to it being old and in need of some kind of up grading, but, you know its age is its character , its very tidy everywhere, my room was exceptionally clean, my bedding was spot on, the bathroom was dated, so what, it functioned very well , my room had... I recently had the occasion to visit this hotel. To say that it is dated is an understatement. I understand that this hotel is on the market and I am sure that The National Trust, would be proud to own it, as everything is so antiquated. It is definitely in need of modernisation and and refurbishment. The bedrooms, which were... More

After reading some of the other reviews we were a little unsure of what to expect. Agreed, some of the grandeur has slightly faded but this magnificent hotel still retains much of the 'class' that my husband recalls from his youth. However, our room (210) was very comfortable, quite spacious, quiet, clean and overlooked the beautiful gardens (+ had duvet... More

My other half went here on his own & thought it the best hotel he'd ever stayed in. As you can see from my rating, I didn't agree. The grounds are beautiful & facilities include indoor & outdoor swimming pools, 9 hole golf course, tennis courts, fitness room, snooker room. Public rooms are very large & the hotel itself is...
