We have driven past this Hotel countless times and thought it was a bit far from the centre of Torquay but have always thought it looked good. Well this time we stayed and found it lived up to our expectations. Rooms a bit average and no view - BUT - we did book very late and some forward planning would... More

Palatial grounds, very attentive staff; gorgeous restaurant with wonderful food and service. Enjoyed the live music also - lovely piano music during dinner and fab jazz band during carvery. Enjoyed walks in the stunning gardens, and amazing afternoon tea on the terrace. Very pleasant and relaxing. I didn't mind not getting wifi everywhere - nice to have a break from... More

Let me start by saying this is the worst area in Torquay for wifi signals ,there's one settee in the lobby known as the hot spot where you can get a signal but you can't text on the ground floor but great its ok in your room . I can only add to what other guests have said the palace... More

I didn't want to enjoy my stay as at first sight it's in serious need of updating. However after a night I started to fall for this place. Furniture from late 80's made you feel you stepped back in time but it's all well maintained. The staff are super friendly the food it's amazing and in the end I couldn't... More

The worst experience of my life. Out dated, smelly, needs to be flattened and rebuilt. From another era. Dreadful food, shoddy bedrooms and a dire . The glory days of this establishment are long gone. A museum piece of affluence in the 1970s .

Had a few days here.Have stayed before and always enjoyed the atmosphere, facilities, good food and excellent staff . Again I was not disappointed and had a wonderful time.My single room had a three quarter size double, much better than the tiny tiny single beds in some other rooms. The restaurant for breakfast and dinner was first class (no out... More

This is the strangest...weirdest experience I've had in a long time! The hotel is 4* and its website does it proud...BUT...don't be fooled! It's like stepping back into the 1960's cold war! The beds are SPOOKY! A little red light illuminates intermittently and turns green at 7:30am! If you turn the radio on it plays stuff like Glenn Millar jazz... More

Booked a double room but was given key to a run down tiny box single room in filthy condition, bed not big enough for a cat. Degraded old furniture, clearly not been refurbished for decades. Rude staff, awful customer service, asked for a refund and left for a Travelodge down the road in Paignton. Avoid at all costs
