Got a room with no heating and phone not working, upon raising issue been suggested that we can stay in room that is not for sale due needing decorations, as radiator started heating up there so swapped rooms. But woke up at night in freezing cold room as the heating was not working properly ( probably the radiator needed air removed from it) So in the end stayed in a tiny cold, ugly ish room for £88!! Breakfast great - staff great, but definitely will not visit again.

I stayed at the Invicta for one night with my son. We booked a twin room and arrived at around 7.30pm. Our reception could have been improved, no offer of help to take our bags up the stairs, despite our room being right at the top of the hotel, just a mention as to how far away it was! I moved the car from the front to the car park and came back to find the front door of the hotel locked; a small gesture, but surely not hard to have kept it open a few minutes longer as he knew where I was going (and that I’m a female on my own?) Our room was certainly not boutique; dated fake wooden orange wood furniture and tired decor. My pillow was like a thin, lumpy brick and the beds weren’t very comfortable. Complimentary shower gel and shampoo. Nice towels. Our door didn’t shut easily due to a delay in the doors being refitted after new carpets. Small touches go a long way in a small hotel and for me, make the difference between a 3 and 4 star hotel. Breakfast saved the day with a bright and cheery restaurant and lovely service. Good food and we were allowed to leave our car till the afternoon so we could explore locally. I paid just shy of £100 for the night; honestly, it would have been more comfortable in a Premier Inn. It was in a good location but definitely lacked the little touches that would have made it “boutique” or 4 star.

Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review. I'm sorry you felt like you didn't have the 'boutique experience' that you were hoping for. You booked a Standard Twin on our third floor. These rooms have been going through a refurbishment over the last couple of months. This was meant to have been done earlier in the year but unfortunately Covid put this on hold, so we have been trying to squeeze in improvements when we can. We have had new carpets fitted which is the reason the door was a little stiff. We are waiting for the doors to be skimmed. Pictures of all our rooms are on our website and other booking agents' sites so you can choose the room which is most suited to you. You may have been more suited to a Superior Room on our first floor. The front door to the hotel is generally on the latch to allow guests to come and go, unfortunately this must have been knocked off. We're really pleased you enjoyed breakfast, and I'll pass your lovely comments on to the breakfast staff.

When you arrive to such a warm welcome and leave like one of the family, then this is a true family run hotel, right on the hoe, 5 minutes from the ferry, a wonderful evening meal and yes, a wait for breakfast, but what a brilliant breakfast, even the dog got a treat, we cannot thank both the owner and all the staff for a great stay, so nice When nowt is too much trouble.

So having just got our first puppy, we wanted to take her with us to visit family in Plymouth. We arrived later than expected but there was no problems checking and being shown to our room and being informed of where everything was. The room was as clean as you would expect for a dog friendly room. There were a few stains on the carpets and furniture but also appreciate that there must be a swift hand over and carpets cannot be cleaned on every departure. Being a new dog owner, we prepared to take her den (to sleep) and puppy pads in case of any emergencies (although she is trained but only 4 months old). I find it disrespectful that other dog owners may not go to the same measures as I'm sure they do let their dogs drool on furniture and pee on the carpets at their homes? Breakfast was good on the first day but the poached egg on the 2nd day was overdone but we did get a sausage for the dog on the 2nd day.. The owners (managers) were very friendly and helpful and we informed them that we are due back next month to which they were grateful and offered us a cooler room.

Thank you for taking the time to leave such a lovely review! We have a handful of dog friendly rooms on our first floor. These are deep cleaned after every dog stays. It's not logistically possible to clean the carpets after every dog has stayed but we do clean them as frequently as possible. We're glad you enjoyed the breakfast and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.
