What a lovely afternoon. The service was excellent and the sandwiches, scones etc were so beautifully fresh. The tea was also very good with plenty of variety. Other hot drinks were also served. We would definitely go again. The view is amazing of course even though we all live locally, it’s great to see it from up high.

Within half an hour of checking in the maid entered our room without knocking catching my partner and I in a very intimate situation. We reported this to reception and heard nothing back not even an apology. I emailed my concerns to customer service to be told it was my own fault that we didn't double lock the door or put a do not disturb sign out. This has caused great distress to my girlfriend. The maid also lied by saying she had knocked which she absolutely hadn't. We also ate at the Marco Pierre restaurant on the top floor, the main was lovely but a rather large piece of plastic was found in the dessert. We were offered another dessert as a replacement. The room in the hotel was comfortable and clean but the bathroom was tiny and had a terrible draft coming in from outside from behind the cistern making it very very cold. The double bed was just two singles pushed together. Overall a pretty miserable stay with terrible customer service.

Response from IHG Service, Other at Crowne Plaza Plymouth, an IHG hotel

Hello PMPAY-1978, Thank you for your stay and for taking the time to write us a review. Although I'm delighted to know that you're pleased with the room tidiness, I'm sorry your stay didn't cut it due to the issues encountered with the service provided by our Housekeeping staff, the bathroom small, the bedding, and your dining experience. We want to ensure every detail of your stay is always top-notch and your feedback helps us target areas that need additional attention. Trust that I have shared your comments with the hotel management so immediate action can be taken to ensure this won't happen again. I also sent you a private message to follow up and obtain more details. I hope that you will give us another try and to serve you better when you travel back to the area! Many thanks, Jonathan A Case Manager IHGService

Welcome As always, a professional and friendly welcome. Everything was immaculate and it was good to see all the staff wearing face coverings. We were made to feel very welcome. Room Perfect! Great view and very clean. There wasn’t a spec of dust in sight! The sofa bed wasn’t made up so we called down and they said they’d sort it. We weren’t in any rush and went off for dinner. It hadn’t been made up on our return so asked again and they did it straight away. The staff are very busy making everyone’s stay comfortable, it’s no trouble waiting and being polite! Dining We had dinner in the downstairs lounge. The waiter was absolutely brilliant! It took a bit of time for our food to come out but it’s fresh and actually, really nice to sit and relax! The food was delicious and it’s a perfect setting for a more informal dining experience. We had our 6 year old daughter with us and she loved it! The upstairs restaurant is lovely and my favourite breakfast location! The view is stunning and I can’t rate the cleanliness enough. The staff were phenomenal. They are so polite and can’t do enough for you. The food is very fresh and there’s so much choice. Swimming Pool Very clean and well looked after. Shower gel etc is provided. Some of the bottles needed topping up by the time we got there but this is a very minor thing. The sauna and steam room are perfect! Negatives Only one… the very aggressive, rude, ignorant group of people who unfortunately chose the same hotel as us to stay in! I can’t believe how they spoke to your staff and personally, I think they should be banned! They were clearly after a free stay. After making a scene at breakfast and then carrying on downstairs in the bar, your staff deserve a medal! They handled the situation very well but shouldn’t have to put up with it in the first place. The group were shouting at them and maybe they could have been thrown out due to their lack of face masks!!! Please tell your staff to carry on as they are, this place is lovely!

Couldn’t fault the service and amenities but the hotel room could have done with a little attention in places. We had room 714 and on arrival the window had been left open when we went to close it we found the framework was all broken so if it was handled the wrong way the glass unit could have fallen out of the window altogether. The room had an interconnecting door to the room next door which was damaged and didn’t close properly. The housekeeping also had to be prompted via a note to fill up the complimentary shampoo and shower gel as this had not been checked prior to arrival and wasn’t done until we left the note. Otherwise we enjoyed the 3 night stay and would definitely return as the staff were fantastic and the pool facilities very good also. We used the car park, we have quite a large car and it was a little tight but there was plenty of spaces available.
