Stayed here during semi-lockdown, pool was closed - although not obvious from the website when we booked (our local pool was open so it wasn’t a blanket ban). The carpet had seen better days, and the door to the bathroom looked like someone had taken a couple of hammer blows to it. The hotel itself is located within easy walking distance of the Barbican and the centre and has amazing views across the harbours from the penthouse dining room

The location of the hotel is excellent. Our room (Two Double Beds Non-Smoking Room) was big but the bathroom is very small for a 4 stars hotel. The only problem we had was that the mattress in one of the two beds wasn't comfortable because it was too old, we could fell the springs. The swimming pool was open but because of the pandemic, we had to book a time slot but there was no availability before one week whereas we contacted the hotel one week ago and they didn’t write us this very important reservation.

4*... hmmm......Not very impressed. Stayed for 4 nights with 2 children. On arrival told our room wasnt ready for a further 15mins and was told someone would come and tell us when it was. They didnt, waited an hour then had to que again to see receptionist who still didnt know if room was ready. We did get complimentary drinks for this inconvenience. However, had pre-booked dinner, bed and breakfast but was told to go up to the restaurant to book time slot for dinner (in the terribly slow lifts and after the delay) by which time they told us they were fully booked. Had to go back down to reception to sort this which did cause some stress to myself after long drive and being covid times and restaurants all booked up and with 2 children to feed. Room had not been cleaned for a while as dust/hair around bath and toilet not clean. Couldnt be bothered to go to reception and que and complain again so did it myself. No housekeeping of rooms whole time we were there, no bins empty, no beds made, no towel changes. Had to go and ask for more toilet roll etc and que at reception. Was told it was due to covid, but we stayed at another hotel he same week and this was not the case there. Personally I think these are bare minimum things to offer as a hotel otherwise what exactly is one paying for, and cleanliness should be scaled up not down during covid times!! Bad show!! Staff were generally ok. Food took 2hrs to get through 3 courses tho. Currently served in the Marco pierre white restaurant but very average to poor, do not be fooled. Beautiful views from here tho and the hotel is very well located. Dont take a big car in the carpark tho!! Very snug, glad my husband was driving coz I dont think I'd have managed the corners/walls. Would defo not rush back or reccomend.

Had a late dinner at this hotel. Only found out no other time was available until we checked in at reception. Air con in the restaurant was freezing and service was extremely slow. My two children were tired and hungry in the first night of stay. Very disappointed. Next morning had to queue for 20 mins for hot food and there was just ONE staff serving at the buffet section! The place was like a fast food restaurant! Not the usual Crown Plaza I used to stayed in!

We've stayed in many a crowne plaza hotel but this one wasn't the greatest. The rooms are dated with broken windows that don't close water patches on the ceiling etc. Breakfast was an experience with a queue that took a long time to get through, this isn't the hotels fault but one of the precautions for covid. One thing I think the hotel should introduce is everyone should be told to wear a mask whilst queuing. The queues pass by customers who are sat at their tables eating. I wouldn't be happy with all these strangers standing less than 1 meter away from me without masks on. Once we got our breakfast and immediately walked back to the table but everthing on the plate was cold. So, I can only assume it was cold or at best, luke warm to start with. All in all, not a bad hotel but also not a good one either. We will find alternative accommodation next time in Plymouth.
