In these days of motels and plastic hotels it is always good to visit somewhere with genuine history and character. Lynton Cottage Hotel delivers on all fronts. Panoramic views, friendly service, good facilities and...it even had parking. If you want to take a trip back to the days of Poirot, a grand seaside hotel and you need spoiling take in... More

Wow, this hotel is fantastic!! We stayed here for 5 days in Sept and it was just perfection from start to finish. The building is very interesting, a bit Alice in Wonderlandish with doors and stairs all higgledy piggeldy in all directions, imagine this was one someone's house! We loved the Louisa Suite, it had great views and was nice... More

Fabulous views of the cliffs greet you as you drive in. The hotel is historical , which means a few steps and stairs inside, but the views are worth it. Dined in restaurant watching light fade over the cliffs and sea.Magical.

Very good hotel with stunning views from the restaurant and from the room we had ( number 20 ) Staff were very welcoming, helpful and friendly. The room was a good size, clean and a comfortable bed. Ideally situated for exploring North Devon then returning to peaceful and relaxing surroundings

My husband and I spent 5 nights in the Balcony room. The views are amazing and the room was very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful and did a good job of cleaning the room. The location of the hotel is great, there are lots of walks directly from the hotel and it's close to the shops and... More

Travelling alone I happened upon Lynton Cottage and managed to get their last room for the night. The hotel is on a private road with incredible views across the Bristol Channel to Wales as well as down into the gorge and along the Exmoor coast - breathtaking. I ended up staying in the Orangery suite which was a linked room... More

my hubby and i spent a few days in Lynton.. what a lovely place! Lynton Cottage was O.K., our room had most amazing views over the Bristol channel and the Welsh coast. The room was big...sloping towards the front! ...a bit shabby to say the least; creeky floor, creeky doors....hmmmmm?! The staff were very nice, very polite and attentive especially... More

Thank you for your feedback. We are pleased you enjoyed your stay and look forward to seeing you again. Your room is due for a makeover in October to remove the squeaks. One or two of the rooms do have a natural slope, towards the sea, that compliments the character and age of the property, and is an endless source... More

Having learned on the Tuesday that my wife could take an unexpected day off on the Friday of the same week - we decided we'd like to actually "do" something rather than just lazing around at home - but on the run up to what was going to be a busy Bank Holiday with good weather forecast, weren't overly optimistic... Thank you for your feedback, it was a delight to see you both again. As a Hotelier it is often difficult to describe rooms accurately because of limited space on the website etc etc. Once discovered, our Room Number 4 is highly popular with returning Guests, young and old alike. Although Ground Floor, the elevated position gives it that first... More

A pretty spot with stunning view of the North Devon coast. Some rooms are bit dated, needs some updates. The dinner and breakfast were not too impressive. Best if you may go somewhere else. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Good location if you like outdoor sports for walk, cycling or drive to nearby towns for water sports. There are... More

Lovely old building with amazing views that is unfortunately being modernized on the cheap. The bar room is gorgeous but the furniture is very uninviting. Our room had some really pretty features that were lost due to poor decor (primark towels..) The breakfast was substandard compared to others we had in the area and for the price. I had very... Thank you for your comments. We appreciate constructive feedback, but accuracy would be helpful. eg Every item of soft furnishings in the Hotel, including towels, comes from a leading HOTEL supplier, to guarantee quality. When reviews are posted anonymously, it can be difficult for a Hotelier to identify the particular room in question. Especially in an establishment such as ours,... More
