My husband and I popped into Hewitts for a crab sandwich for him and a cream tea for me, after leaving North Devon and heading to Somerset for the second part of our holiday and we were overcome by the picturesque setting we were to dine in. We sat outside on terrace in the sunshine, admiring the amazing view as... More

We stayed in the Turret apartment located at the top of the hotel with views out to sea. The apartment itself is very eclectic and comes with all the necessary requirements needed for our 3 night stop and was a very good base to visit some wonderful places around Lynmouth. I only have a few little niggles. The water was... More

We stayed in a self-catering apartment, which had everything we needed. We felt like we were staying in an old country house, maybe in the 1940s in atmosphere, but with all the necessities and comforts of the 21st century. As we self-catered, we didn't experience breakfast, but did have a lovely cream tea one afternoon and although we didn't indulge,... More

This hotel has two types of accommodation; the self service rooms and the catered for rooms. I stayed here for three days with my partner and two friends in an adjacent room. It is worth noting that this venue is a lovely Victorian period building that oozes character. You enter into a large open living area with a large central... More

Found The Hewitt Villa by chance. Such a lovely place. The waiter was, though very quiet very helpful and kind. The food lovely, generous in size and we thought reasonably priced. The house is gorgeous and seems untouched by time, the gardens were beautiful even under the rain. We would love to be back and stay over night.

We stayed in the "Turret" which is a self catering top floor apartment with all the amenities and absolutely wonderful views looking over Lynmouth bay towards the Welsh Coast. What a treat to have breakfast sitting on the balcony with such views. The gardens and the actual zig zag walk down to the Esplanade car park in Lynmouth is not... More

We found Villa Spaldi by chance walking down a lane in Lynton, what an amazing place, like stepping back in time,so palaciaill and with so many beautiful antiques, set over looking the sea,we sat on the terrace. The cream tea was very good, warm scones, plain and cranberry, tasty jam and plenty of the most yellow clotted cream ever, tea was in a nice China pot and... More

As other reviewers have indicated: Hewitt's Villa Spaldi is certainly old-fashioned but in the very best sense of the word. This is the kind of of place where you can easily imagine Cary Grant or Fred Astaire walking down the beautiful staircase to have drinks by the fire place while the piano player plays a Cole Porter tune. The level... More

We came across this wonderful old house as we walked around the Lynton Valley of Rocks. Don’t be put off by the rather faded Cream Tea sign at the top of the drive. As you walk down, Villa Spaldi comes into view – a wonderful quirky, slightly faded looking building with a fabulous outlook across the Lynmouth Bay. The tables... More

This is just the perfect place for a cream tea and other culinary delights. We are sorry that other reviews feel the need to be unkind about the waiters lack of communication. For us, his service and his willingness were paramount. We felt as if we were re-living Downton Abbey days!!! The views from this place are stunning and it... More
