We popped into the establishment for a beautifully kept pint of ale after a long cold day of dog walking. We were so impressed with the menu and fabulous atmosphere we returned that evening for dinner. The restaurant wasn't open that evening, being off peak, so we sat in the pub area looking out to the sea, by the window....

Whilst regular visitors to Exmoor we usually pop into the Sun for a pint but had not stayed in the hotel for some time so decided we should revisit it as part of my birthday celebration. We booked in advance and took advantage of the no cancellation rate. On emailing the inn to check bookings we were a little disappointed...

Excellent food and service in both bar and restaurant. comfortable rooms. The bar was very cosy with a good selection of local beers and spirits and there was a log fire for the cold evenings. Location perfect for lots of great walks.

We were on our way to a 2 night stay in North Cornwall and wanted to find a good stop off en route. After a great, late afternoon trot round Heddon's Mouth & Peter's Rock (recommended) we made the short drive to the Rising Sun. The location is great, opposite the harbour and the facade is typical of a historic...

We are very proud of our beautiful old Inn, which is packed full of character from old beams, fireplaces and sloping floors to name a few so its always nice when others agree. We were pleased to read you liked the room allocated to you and enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep, just what we would want for our guests. Your...

Friendly Hostelry with excellent real ales, and superb food. The young staff were friendly efficient and knowledgeable about their beers. We enjoyed our lunch there, and would assume that their rooms are are on a par with the cleanliness and comfort of the public areas and toilets. Our only complaint was that our original table was next to the middle...

After spotting the rising sun early on arrival the subsequent visit was a great dissapointment. Both ourselves and another family were left feeling rather policed by the lady behind the bar (possibly the landlady) who seems to have forgotten what good hospitality entails. A real shame.

This hotel gives you the best experience you can imagine. A wonderful location right on the harbour, bedrooms facing the estuary with the constant sound of sea as the tide comes in. It's a pub as well as an hotel which is great if you like traditional English beer and on fine days you can it outside and watch and...

This is a very expensive pub. The food is tasty, but there is not a lot on the plate. I came away hungry, having had the warm salad that would have been an adequate starter. At £14.95 I am at best disappointed.

Although I had visited the pub several times in the past, this was our 1st stay in the hotel. It was as good as we could have hoped for, with the only downside being the food prices, which were a little on the steep side - nearly £15 for fish & chips being an example. The room was comfortable, with...
