We enjoyed a lovely week at this well appointed B&B. The hosts Clifford & Josie were friendly & accommodating. Clifford gave us information on where to go each day & the special routes for me being disabled

After a wet and windy day exploring the local town, we spotted the captains house across the river which looked very appealing. We were a family of six with one OAP, all ready for a bite to eat and a well deserved hot drink, approached the front door, rang the bell and waited only then to be greeted by an... More

Had a wonderful time in a perfect setting run by perfect hosts. Clifford and Josie where very friendly and treated us very well indeed. The room was wonderful and we had our own balcony. I would highly recommend either staying there or at least just stopping for a cream tea.

a long weekend at The Captains House was an anniversary surprise booked for us by our daughter who regularly stays there. Gorgeous sea-side Village, nice friendly hosts, the guesthouse is truly a gem on the riverbank. Clean and tidy. And generous breakfast.

Very warm and friendly B&B. Love the old fashioned style. We stayed in a double room with private bathroom on ground floor. Very clean and comfortable. T.V. Shower and heated towel rail. Breakfast was excellent! The owners were both very welcoming and helpful. The only downside to the area was no phone signal but to be honest it was a... More

Lovely location just minutes away from the centre of the village with picturesque views of the river. The accommodation was what you would expect of the traditional B&B which was actually great. There were no particularly modern touches or decor so took you a little back in time. The B&B was clean and had a friendly atmosphere and the host... More

Visited for weekend, last minute booking. Stayed in standard double with en suite. This isn't a luxury B&B - room was small and bathroom tiny. However, owners were lovely and we had everything we needed.

Visiting lynmouth for a day trip with adults and young teenagers. We saw captains house from across the river with lots of flowers and parasols in the garden which lead us believe that they took pride and cared about what they do. -how wrong we were! I ordered a pasty that was described as "aga baked" etc (can't remember rest... More

From some of the reviews were were apprehensive about staying here. We needn't have been. The Captain's House is in a picturesque location beside the river and is reach via an attractive riverside path for walkers from Lynmouth. We were warmly greeted, shown to our rooms and offered tea on the house in the cottage garden. It was perfect after... More

Despite its rather idyllic location, this place is old and tired and not very clean. The owner was abrupt, angry and aggressive with us to the point that we registered a complaint with the local police on the advice of Tourist Information and the town council. We love the Exmoor region and beautiful Lynton and Lynmouth, but advise that visitors... More
