We arrived at 5.30pm after a particularly arduous drive and was greeted by a freindly young man who told me we had to pay in advance which I thought was strange however I was too tired to argue we were told our double and single rooms 31 and 32 were on the third floor after climbing a mass of stairs... I've stayed in many hotels - you need to realise this is an old hotel, with little budget for renovation or upkeep. Not sure who runs it, but I arrived around midday thinking I'd be able to check-in and leave my bag until the room was ready. An elderly lady came out of the kitchen to ask what I wanted,... More

No offer to help carry suitcase up 50 stairs, which wasn't the greatest start, so was feeling a bit puffed out by the time I got to my attic room. Bed was comfy and room clean enough, although décor very tired. Bathroom was mouldy in the shower area and the cracked tiles didn't add to the appeal. Quite noisy at... More

This hotel benefits from a central location convenient for Central Station and local attractions (RAMMs, Cathedral, Castle, Pedestrianized zone etc) along with various types of pubs and eateries. The parking is on street via permit. There also seems to be a high number of rooms with ensuite which was an important bonus for us. With only one central area for... More

Great location for exploring Exeter on foot, and without a hill to climb. It is 5 mins walk from the excellent Royal Albert Memorial Museum (RAMM), and 10 mins from the cathedral area. An Indian restaurant and pub are virtually on its doorstep. This no-frills accommodation is more of a bed & breakfast than a hotel - there is no... More

I came here for one night on a business trip and booked it due to the positive reviews on this website. Maybe the rooms on the lower floors are nice, however I was in room 33, a small room on the third floor, probably the converted loft. The stairs up to there were narrow and windy and there was no... There are good things to be said for this hotel: it's walking distance from the Cathedral, and the train stations (both Central and St Davids), and close to restaurants and shops, in a lively neighborhood. The staff is impeccably helpful and breakfast is good. Yet a lot could be improved, first among them soundproofing. I could hear people talking (not... More

Shared a double room with a friend for 2 nights and it has great. The rooms were good size and didn't feel cramped in at all. Our room had a small TV, single, ensuite, wardrobe and complimentary teas and coffees. Breakfast was included which was plentiful. Location wise we couldn't have asked for better. 5 mins (give or take) from... More

The hotel itself it situated on the outskirts of Exeter, clean and tidy with comfortable rooms. The shower room was a little small, but as a single traveler this didnt cause any problems. My room overlooked the main road, despite this, there was very little road noise an a sound nights sleep was had. less than 100 yards away was... More
