Booked on the recommendation of a friend, found ourselves at the beginning of the Regatta - nice bonus to our trip. This hotel reflects it's long history, there are stairs, uneven floors, sash windows that open onto the quayside and the chattering of seagulls. Rooms are very comfortable. Staff friendly and helpful. Valet parking, Sounds a bit off putting, but... More

our party of 8 had the most fantastic dinner last Friday evening in the main restaurant upstairs. The food was of the highest quality and with service to match. For me, I had made a promise some 40 years ago that I would one day enjoy an occasion such as the one we had. It could not have been bettered... More

We stayed here for 2 nights during the beginning of the Regatta and booked very last minute! We had previously been here on a different visit to Dartmouth where we loved the bar area so we were pleased when we found that there was a room available during the Regatta. We stayed right at the top of the hotel which... More

I visited here with my partner one evening during regatta week. The pub was very busy but we didn't have too wait long for a table to become available. We ordered at the bar and within 20 minutes our food arrived and it was lovely. We will definitely return when we are next in the area.

What a lovely friendly place to eat. We enjoyed a well cooked Sunday roast which was served in good time during a busy Sunday serving. The waiting staff were very attentive and brought us extra gravy for our lunch. Well worth a visit. They catered well for children, handing out colouring books and pencils which was appreciated.

We must have been regularly having a drink in the Royal Castle for over 25 years now, and it has somehow stayed the same. And I mean that in a good way. I know they must have changed carpets and seat coverings etc over the years, but the essential character hasn't changed at all. It's got a great central location,... More

We really enjoyed this hotel and the location it was in. It is on the "pool" front which is a small marina. The river is also right in front of the hotel, so lots to watch from your window. Breakfast was excellent, lots of fresh fruit, pastries and cooked breakfast if you so desire. Room was a bit small, just... More

We went for lunch at the Royal Castle Hotel. The curry the adults ordered was delicious and filling. A beef curry, lentil dhal, rice, naan, poppadums, delicious raita and mango chutney for £15. The children ordered a pizza from the children's menu which was quite small, served with watercress which the children didn't like and wasn't really very filling. No... More

The room my sister and I were allocated was fabulous, wonderful view of the harbour and a luxurious spa bath. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Breakfast had an array of choice, very tasty indeed. Only negative was the thin walls, I could hear the gentleman snoring in the next room from ours, and the floors are extremely squeaky, but...
