Cracking location overlooking the harbour. Nice friendly smart pub with grub and several rooms, some with sea views. I had the only single room which was very good value and comfortable. Only issue was a ropey old loo seat which really needs replacing. Other than that very happy with my stay here in this beautiful harbour. A nice touch was... More

Would not normally write a review, but when offers the response " nothing we can do" to informing the staff to a slug in my wife's salad this evening, a pleasant meal turned into a regretful evening. I was not necessarily expecting a refund, but to have the manager specifically send back the waiting staff with that message was cowardly... More

Thank you for your review, I do sincerely apologise for the salad issue, this should not have happened. Not quite sure what happened with the communication, as we as managers do not expect our staff to apologise for issues, we deal with them ourselves. We would have offered a refund or another dish, or a drink so somewhere the communication... More

My husband and I really enjoyed an amazing lunch, it was a large portion and it was fresh, homemade and very tasty. They also served a carvers which looked and smelt amazing. The location was perfect and a very friendly and local atmosphere. It was very clean and it felt very comfortable to eat in.

TThe Rising Sun has a large outside seating area with good views over the sea. It is aimed at the Tourist market and the food prices are very steep although thr portions are large. St Mawes is generally expensive but we felt that this pub/restaurant took their customers for a ride with their prices.

We'd just driven several hundred miles from Scotland and were tired and very hungry. We found our accommodation and wandered into St Mawes. The Rising Sun looked like a really atmospheric pub with people of all ages sitting out in the beer garden enjoying food and drink. We were not disappointed, freshly cooked food of an excellent quality was served... More

We have visited the Rising Sun on several occasions over the last 5 years and always enjoyed the service and great pub grub, fish n chips are always great value. In the summer the pub gets very busy at lunch time so be prepared to wait up to 30 minutes for your meal but always worth it especially at the... More

Visited while walking the south west coast path. The location is great, the room was a good size and very comfortable and the staff are friendly. The food offered is good, with generous portions of traditional options. The bar has a decent range and a good selection of ales on tap.

First day of our holiday. We wanted a nice lunch, Went in to Rising Sun and greeted by friendly staff. We found a table and a waiter explained the carvery to us and how to order. We ordered the carvery but my mum in law is vegetarian and ordered Scampi. We got our drinks and were discussing when to get... More

There is a carvery on Sunday's and Wednesday's, we ate here both times. Two choices of meat, roast potatoes, veggies, crackling, stuffing and Yorkshire pudding was excellent and only £9.50. Add to that a very friendly welcoming staff, good beer selection and a great view from the patio and there is no more to add. Recommended.

Fish and chips/John dirty in garlic cream...very good all washed down with a decent Rioja. And a view of the harbour on a warm summer evening. This is a decent pub with friendly and competent staff. And dogs are welcomed both inside as well as on the patio area.
