First class, staff and food excellent, room little dated views excellent definitely go again. Staff accommodating ,found us a room even though we arrived at day early. Could do with a little more entertainment in the evening although weather was good and you can walk out in the evening.

It was clean, the food was hit and miss, the breakfast was buffet style but it was the same every morning. We paid extra for a room with a view, but it had a sloping ceiling, and it was small ( the bedroom), the floor we're on had a lot of stairs, not suitable for my husband.

Slightly faded hotel. Worth paying extra for rooms with beautiful sea views. The food is average, seems to mainly cater to older visitors. The staff are friendly and prices in the bar reasonable. The bed in our room was awful, the springs had gone and also the shower was poor.

Great location, wonderful staff, food great all in all an excellent week.St Mazes is a bueatiful place to be based. Trips out to the Eden project and the lost gardens of Heligan are really worthwhile.

There were two sides to our stay at the Ship and Castle hotel. The good side was an excellent location and the superb food. The bad side was the room. It was tired and shabby. The real bugbear was the noise as we faced the alliway by the entrance to the pub . This meant getting to sleep until late... More

Stayed for four nights on a shearings holiday end of august. Hotel in a great position overlooking harbour . Room was reasonably modern and of a good standard. Restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and the food as in most shearing hotels very good and well presented.

We stayed at the Ship & Castle hotel on the 8th August for 4 nights. This was properly one of the worst hotel experiences we have had pretty much entirely due to the location of the room that we were allocated . This was room 107 on the first floor it was looking rather tired and the bathroom was very... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Where the Rivers’ Fal and Percuil meet to join the open sea, St Mawes boasts the perfect picture postcard retreat and at the heart of the village, right on the quay you will find The Ship and Castle Hotel. Once The Ship and Castle Inn, and a warren of small fishermen’s cottages (remnants of which can still be seen at the rear of the existing building) The Ship and Castle is now a 55 bedroom hotel with all the charm and character one would expect for its location. Our bar and lounges offer the perfect location for a peaceful day in St Mawes watching the world go by, or enjoying a traditional Cornish Cream Tea. We have a selection of sea view rooms which understandably are in high demand and are well recommended to make your stay that little bit more special. ... more   less
