I have literally just got home from a 45 minute neck, shoulders and back massage. Chantelle carried out the massage and it was just what I needed. She was very professional and made me feel comfortable and relaxed for the duration. The rest of the staff were very welcoming and made the whole experience perfect!

Hotel's Favorite
I visited this recently renovated hotel with my other half on a Saturday in January. I always research the places I stay in meticulous detail and so expected a good night. I was slightly concerned about the lack of parking (it’s impossible to park at all in St Ives) but needn’t have worried. A lovely young man was on hand as soon as we arrived to valet park our car. Lovely. A very good receptionist (Natasha?) showed us to our room on the top (4th) floor and I couldn’t have been more delighted. There’s always a moment for me when I open the door of any hotel room for the first time. I prepare my face not to show any disappointment if it’s not what I was expecting/hoping but this room exceeded all my expectations in all regards. The view was spectacular. A small Juliette balcony overlooked the bay and light flooded in (I get quite depressed in a dark room). The very big bed was delightfully tucked behind original large old wooden beams and supports in this incredibly cleverly designed room/suite. The bathroom was fab and there was also a 2nd bedroom with bunk beds and another en-suite. The beds had a gorgeous nautical feel and I almost wished For a moment that had brought children to tuck in that night. Luckily that didn’t last when I spotted the decanters of complementary sherry (it’s not just for old ladies you know) and more excitingly for me, gin and decided a pre-pre dinner drink was just what the doctor ordered. The mini bar had several flavours of Fever Tree tonic for the OH to explore and a lovely man brought ice and lemon round. It would have been rude not to sit and sip our two G&T’s each (but who’s counting) as we watched the tiny people walk their tiny dogs down on the beach below us. I’m getting quite misty eyed remembering it... We went down for dinner and enjoyed a 3 course meal. Impeccably trained staff took our orders and left us alone to enjoy it. I personally don’t like being constantly asked if everything’s alright so that suited me fine. Great food, great service and grrat company (well I’d had a few drinks by then) made the time fly by. We retired to enjoy the last episode of a Netflix series we’d been watching - spoiler alert - this is what happens on a romantic night away when you get to a certain age. In the morning I can honestly say I had the best breakfast I’ve had in years with the amazing yoghurt/granola homemade pots (that really doesn’t adequately explain nor do justice to them) followed by a wonderful cooked breakfast. Overall, I can honestly say that this hotel was a joy to stay in and we made our one night feel like a much longer holiday by taking advantage of St Ives the following day as well. The staff were all, without exception, first rate and that can make or break a place so hats off to the manager. My only regret is that I didn’t get to try the Spa. Oh well, we’ll just have to go back!

My fiancé booked dinner at the Harbour Hotel to celebrate my birthday. He booked it two months in advance as he knew I loved the hotel, plus all the other restaurants in St Ives were filling up fast. Then yesterday (6 days before my birthday), my fiancé had a call from the hotel telling him that our reservation will be cancelled. They said because of Covid 19 they want to keep the restaurant for hotel guests only……..which we totally understand, we have to keep everyone safe, but the restrictions were lifted on Monday. Also this time last year, we had a meal in the restaurant (as non hotel guest) to celebrate the day we should have got married, the hotel happy for our custom then, and that was during restrictions. I have nowhere to go for my birthday meal, as everywhere in St Ives is fully booked……..so thanks for that Harbour Hotel! The other reason that I’m so annoyed at the hotel, is that my fiancé has booked a spa day (including treatments), a few days after my birthday, which is still going ahead……..so what’s the difference? I will have more contact with someone massaging my back, than someone taking my order. This is ridiculous!!

Hello, thank you for taking the time to write your review. Can I first of all start by saying cancelling your booking is the very last thing we want to do. We want you to come here, and to have a wonderful time for your birthday celebrations. Cancelling is a last resort, and not something we take lightly. I'm not sure if you're aware but there has been multiple business throughout St Ives close due to covid. There is also a severe staff shortage within the hospitality industry at the moment. With this in mind we have had to cancel bookings for non-residents, and also for a period of time be unable to provide lunch service for residents either. This is due to the staff shortage and also many staff members being contacted by the track and trace app to isolate. I completely understand your disappointment, but please know this is unforeseen circumstances and as mentioned, the last thing we wish to do. I hope despite this you have managed to get something else sorted for the special occasion. We do hope to welcome you here in the future. Kind Regards Hannah Bassett - Guest Relations

Very unimpressed this evening to receive a phone call to cancel our table for my partners birthday. Hotel cancelled as we weren’t staying at the hotel. Not impressed as it’s hard enough booking meals at the moment in a staycation environment. Very disappointed as now with days notice we can’t find anywhere to celebrate. Poor management and a complete lack notice about a change. Real shame we been to this hotel most times we been to St Ives.

I am absolutely disgusted with the service from what I understood to be a top class hotel. I rang St Ives Harbour Hotel over 3 months ago to book a family meal for a special birthday for my husband. I explained exactly what the occasion was, advised we had visited the hotel every year for many years, including last year and they happily took my booking. I have in addition rang the hotel on 2 occasions over the last couple of weeks to confirm times and details. I have just received a call from a so called duty manager advising they have taken the decision today to cancel my booking as we are non residents. I am absolutely disgusted in such poor, unprofessional service, completely destroying all our plans for my husbands special birthday and now with so little time I am unable to find anywhere else to eat in the St Ives area. Both myself and my husband have worked throughout the whole of the pandemic and whilst we fully agree with the closure of restaurants due to Covid cases can in no way agree to cancelling for this reason. We are all double jabbed and the government has now announced all Covid restrictions are lifted from 19/7/21 so find this cancellation and the reasoning behind it both irrational and unacceptable.
