Stayed in this guest house whilst on holiday, Christine the manageress is lovely, very welcoming, friendly and definitely sets you up for the day with her lovely cooked breakfast!!! The guest house has a prime location looking over porthminster beach if you are lucky enough to be in the front bedrooms, however we had the family room right at the top... More

This is the second time I've stayed at the Carlyon, 4/5 years and a change of owner apart. What brought me back here was two simple things: Location (and therefore also the view) and price. In terms of the price, St Ives can be an expensive place to stay, and the Carlyon was at the more realistic (for me) end... More

Lovely manager/landlady but room poor and overpriced, even for this part of the world. Let me get straight the point. I know you don't get much for your money as far as accommodation goes in St Ives goes but our room (2A) didn't have a proper window (I mean one you could actually look out of!) - extraordinary!! The room... More

The Carlyon Guest House is just round the corner from the Railway station and the bus station. I was in Room 1, which is a single room on the first floor with a sea view. The room has a large bay window with a great view of Porthminster beach. Breakfast was at 0830-0930, service was quick and the staff were... More

Avoid smoked salmon breakfast and don't try and bend over in the bathroom as no room to do this. The room was shabby and in need of modernisation - as many have been crammed into the space as possible. Also the great view comes at the expense of being on the main road into St Ives that is really noisy... More

The B&B was in a good position, but needs updating. Our room was extremely small, there was a window in the roof which had a dirty old blind. The bathroom was terrible, dirty toilet, shower which kept going cold, the floor flooded every time we showered too. All the tiles in the bathroom looked old and grotty, the whole bathroom... More

We only booked to stay one night and that was enough! 36 hours previously there had been a power cut tripping the ring main to the sockets in the rooms the manager didn't know how to push a switch to get the power on! Therefore we had no electricity to the rooms save a light. No shower, no heating, no... More

This little gem of a guest house has everything to offer someone who plans to spend much time out and about exploring St Ives. My single room was a perfect size for me travelling on my own. The room was simple but very clean and very comfortable I had everything I needed. Then waking both mornings to a sea view... More

The venue overlooks a fantastic beach and I would strongly recommend booking a room with a sea view. The venue as a whole is tired and does require a bit of a revamp in decor. Furnishing is bland and tired. The finishing on the paint work is also of a poor standard such as paint marks on mirrors, light sockets... More
