Stayed 1 night on our way to Isles of Scilly lovely room very nicely decorated and furnished . great meal in the evening in a relaxed dining area . Very friendly and helpful staff…. Although no parking we found it easy to park in a side street although there was a public Carpark close by Would highly recommend and would stay again . 10 minute drive to Heliport

In the heart of Penzance, 5 minutes from the recently renovated Jubilee pool lido - the Artist Residence is a gorgeous boutique hotel. The room was really comfortable, we had a small suite, it was amazingly quiet, event the seagulls didn’t disturb us. Supplies of coffee and fresh Milk were refreshed daily without any need to ask. Lovely Bramley Toiletries complimented the room and there was a massive copper bath to relax in. Breakfast was great. We enjoyed very good Negroni’s with dinner. The staff were all super helpful and really friendly, though perhaps as this was just at the end of lockdown things were still getting up to speed. All in all we thought the Artist Residence was a great hotel and ideally located if you intend to do the trip from Penzance to the Scilly isles, we definitely hope to return one day.

My husband and I visited this hotel for two nights for the last leg of our honeymoon, and we were greeted by two really sound reception staff which was nice. The hotel room was also really cool and quirky and reminded us of somewhere we’ve stayed in ibiza but I have to say, for £590 for the two nights, it is over priced. Why? The room was super small (although it was really nice and we loved the decor, it was soo tiny). There was no phone down to reception which is kind of unusual (so we had to find the hotel number from our phone, which took us through to a customer service line, who then finally put us through to reception). We were in a roof room so it was a bit long to keep going down the stairs and round the corner and through the corridors etc just for a quick question. No iron in the room. 1 mini face mirror in the bathroom which we had to try and share whilst getting ready. No breakfast included in the price, which is tight. Due to the reasons above, I do think it’s overpriced. We’d just come from a plush hotel in the Cotswolds which was wayy posher, and they included all of the above so in my opinion this hotel is cool and so are the staff, but lacking a lot of basics.

Disappointing end to special meal out . Waited more than 20 mins for coffee which never arrived then effectively told had to leave table for next booking . We didn’t know we had a time limit either . Spoiled the experience after a lovely seafood meal .

We decided to do a last minute trip down to Penzance and were stressed when we realised that there was pretty much no availability for airbnb/rentals, so were very surprised and pleased to find the the AR cottage was available for booking - which was great as we weren't comfortable with fully staying in a hotel. The cottage was perfect for what we needed - around the corner from the main hotel with its own parking spot, it's small but cozy and comfortable (worth noting only one bathroom for the three bedrooms). Some of the group was on holiday and some were working during the day, so the cottage set up was perfect for remote working. Staff were super friendly, accommodating, and helpful. We only ate one meal at the hotel, which was decent (the restaurant wasn't open for lunch, only breakfast or dinner). Only feedback would be that the staff didn't seem very knowledgeable about the local neighbourhood, so weren't able to help much with tips for what was open, what was good, etc. A brand like AR seems like they would have a "neighbourhood guide" kind of thing with where to go for coffee / best pasties / fish & chips / drinks with a view / etc. Although the rooms don't have any sort of view, the location is very central, which is nice.
