Having stayed at the sister venue 'The Gurnard's Head' many times we opted this time for the slightly larger 'Coastguards'. As we expected, the room, service and food were all outstanding. We especially enjoyed our little balcony on room 14 which is at seagull and chimney pot level despite being on the ground floor - it's quite a hill! Would... More

We love this hotel - it is informal, welcoming, comfortable and - most importantly - very dog-friendly. It has a wonderful location overlooking Mount's Bay. Our room this time had a balcony with a sea view and a separate room for our doggy, and just a stroll into the village for dinner in the pub or up the hill to... More

Superb establishment, very clean and professional, beautiful view from excellent pub garden. Food very very nice too. Not cheap but you get what you pay for. And it's got its own parking with a fair priced council car park next door.

What a difference! Really clever well crafted menu showing a real twist on classic cuisine. All elements of dish perfectly seasoned to eat together. Great emphasis on the sea which makes sense. Myself and my two children had an incredible meal and the service was exemplary. All the waitresses were as good as each other & could not do enough... More

Gorgeous hotel in a gorgeous village. Fabulous, friendly staff and service, plus a huge pleasant room resulted in a very enjoyable stay overall. We did have some minor issues with a continually yapping dog in a neighbouring room (we are dog lovers, but still!) plus the room kept overheating and more hanging space would have been appreciated for 2 people,... Wonderful 3 night stay here with our 2 labradoodle dogs in a superb location! We stayed on DBB rate and each night the food was marvellous all served in the bar area as we had our dogs too. The staff looked after us very well on all 3 nights. The rooms - we had Room 8 then Room 14 -... More

This was a lovey little stop on the way into mousehole. The food was delicious (my partner and I ordered lots of starters and appetisers for a tapas style lunch). Bar staff lovely and the restaurant beautiful inside and out. Would come here again for an evening meal next time:)

We enjoyed our stay but sorry guys, this was a tough decision to make on the rating and in reality 3.5 would have been my call. Firstly the staff are excellent, friendly and helpful. The restaurant is good and I have reviwed separately with a very good 4. The lost mark is really down to the fact that although our... More

To repeat earlier reviews, the Old Coastguard is perfectly located in the Cornish village of Mousehole, within a couple of minutes walk (and a couple of excellent alternatives for eating, e.g. The Ship and 2 Hope Street). Rooms are spotlessly clean with lovely towels and toiletries, tea and coffee-making facilities and very comfortable beds. It is decorated in a "vintage-chic"... More
