We stayed in lady pamelas cottage over easter. On arrival we were greeted with a cream tea and a welcome pack including tea, coffee and a bottle of milk. Our dog Teddy wasn't left out either. There was a jar of gravy bones for him! The cottage was simply beautiful. It was spotlessly clean with everything we needed for a weeks stay including a dishwasher. The complex was in a stunning location at the end of a private road and was wonderfully peaceful. The only negative was the access which at high tide gets cut off. The detour is pretty hairy up a single track road so not for the fainthearted! That said we only had to use it a couple of times. We will definitely be back!
What a stunning place. We’ve just spent a week in Lady Pamela’s cottage. It was the perfect size for us. Spotlessly clean. Despite the summer months we still enjoyed a fire every evening. This is such a tranquil setting. The only noise to be heard were the birds and the occasional passing tractor. The A387 to Looe was closed when we were there but you can drive to a nearby lay-by and walk the remaining mile into town. A lovely walk, in fact one day we just walked the 2 miles from the cottage. Lucy was so welcoming and checked on us on day one and before we left. This really was a beautiful cottage and I can’t recommend it enough. Our only very slight criticism was a slight damp/musky smell which we think was due to a slight damp issue in the bedroom behind the mirror unit. Didn’t affect our stay in anyway though.…
This has been our family’s Cornish “home from Home” for 25+ years. Many special birthdays and memorable times have been spent here and we are ere at least three times a year between us, if not more. A lovely family run business and it really shows how much they care about the guests who stay with them. The accommodation is fantastic - we have stayed in all 5 of the various cottages throughout our many visits. I cannot recommend staying here highly enough. Thank you Liz, Rob and Lucy!!
Totally loved our week's stay at Holm Oak Cottage for May Half Term. The perfect tonic after the most challenging year. A real 'get away from it all' week, we relaxed so quickly there in the lush green countryside, with views across the valley from the cottages and everything we needed was ready and waiting for a cosy and comfortable stay. The kids made friends with other guests and played on the lawn, even the dog made a doggie buddy! A really peaceful and quiet retreat, but within easy reach of so many lovely beaches and things to do. Totally recommended Lantic Bay and Adrenalin Quarry nearby. Huge thanks to Lucy and the family for helping us enjoy a wonderful staycation.
Stayed here for a few days in January 2020. Could not fault anything. Everything had been thought of. We stayed at Holm Cottage, beautifully appointed I could live there all year round it was that well designed! Very comfortable in beautiful rural surroundings, yet within easy reach of beach and town. Would highly recommend.
We stayed in Holm Oak and it was immaculate. Beautiful setting about 1 mile up a little lane with a fabulous outlook. Owners have thought of everything - cottage is well equipped and has a handbook with some great recommendations of things to do in the area. Love the fact that the grandchildren have contributed to the guide too. It is cosy and has its own enclosed garden. A real escape from it all! Read a negative review on here but I too stayed in the twin room and found the bed to be really comfortable. No issues sleeping at all - Country air and a comfy bed led to a great night's sleep. The only time I woke in the night was to an owl hooting outside the window... And that I didn't mind one bit. I would certainly recommend this lovely spot and will be returning.
Me and my husband had a wonderful stay in Peel Cottage. The cottages are in a lovely peaceful location and we slept so well. One day we walked to the pond and we were delighted to see a Kingfisher! The cottage has such a lovely warm cosy feel to it even without the open fire lit. The cottage had everything that we needed and could not ask for more. Coming from London, it was a lovely getaway and we felt so relaxed when we left. We asked to stay longer but unfortunately the cottage had a booking straight after us.
We are regular guests in Holm Oak. We love this cottage which is why we keep coming back. We always have a really comfortable stay and sleep really well. I felt I needed to add this review in as I noticed a negative review on here as i went in to re-book. What was said has never been our experience.
Stayed in the Holm Cottage over Christmas with my family. At first the cottage seemed really lovely, cosy and the family owners seemed nice. However, I was unable to sleep the 5 days I stayed. I stayed in the single twin room and the beds are rock hard. I tried everything to get to sleep, swapping into the other twin bed, the master bedroom and even down stairs on the sofa, to the point the holiday gave me back pains. I got such little sleep due to the poor quality beds, I left to go home 2 days early, driving back on Christmas Day! There were also a few other things we weren’t impressed by. One of the lights had broken outside so we were unable to see the dogs when let outside at night for a wee. There were gaps in the fence for them to escape into the field of sheep which made us worry about letting them out in the dark. We asked for this to be kindly fixed which they said they would but this never ended up happening. There were lots of dead flys on arrival, in the beds on the floors and bathroom, which hadn’t been cleaned up. Many other items seemed to be faulty and poor quality, like Netflix on the TV was blurry and the bathroom mirror light did not work. Cream tea and flowers were advertised on arrival which was substituted with mince pies. We were a bit disappointed by this as we were really looking forward to them. The wifi was also horrendous due to being really slow. Overall, it wasn’t the best holiday I’ve had and it ruined my christmas mainly due to a lack of sleep. It’s a shame as the cottage looks really lovely and cosy however, I don’t think I would return here again due to coming away feeling exhausted from sleep deprivation.…
Beautiful cottages, well kept grounds and spotless interior, family run business adds to the charm, plenty to do in the area , great for the whole family.Fresh cream scones and tea was laid out for us on arrival , and the lovely vase of fresh flowers on the windowsill...,add to that a roaring fire in the evening ,, who could you ask for more!
