Arrived here early and got a very warm welcome. My room was ready despite it being before mid day which is a bonus. Our room was clean, tidy and well furnished, very comfortable. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was very good and freshly made. Slight downside is that there is no footpath on part of the road... More

Booked (what is now called) Commonwood Manor with over a months notice to stay on a Friday and Saturday night to attend my brothers 60th celebrations only to receive an email a couple of days before our stay to state they had been trying to contact me without success but due to unforeseen circumstances our room would not be available... This property is no longer called Barclay House but is now known as Commonwood Manor and is a Hotel/B&B that I would thoroughly endorse. So please don't let any previous negative reviews on here put you off. We arrived early as the journey across Cornwall took less time than I had anticipated and I called in to say we had... More

Have just spent two lovely nights at the renamed Commonwood Manor. Warmly greeted by owners Simon and Louise. This house's view although within sight of Looe could just as easily be in Italy with its lush green hills, wonderful sunrises and sunsets. Which would explain how the original owner and builder, himself an Italian fell in love with the spot.... More

I can't comment on the facilities because I have not stayed here. BTW, for the sake of clarity, the property is now called Commonwood Manor, so this review applies to either name. I live in the area and my brother booked a double room for two nights (Friday and Saturday) to visit for my birthday party. The booking was confirmed... More

We took my very elderly mother away for a short break and Louise and Simon really made her feel at home, and nothing was too much trouble. I like the relaxed feeling of staying there, they really did want us to treat it like our own home. The bedrooms rooms were very comfortable and spacious, and the lounge and bar... More

So, In September 2015 my partner and I booked a weekend away with friends at this place for January, 2016. Both couples are looking forward to a long weekend away in 4 months time. We organise time off work, shift cover, etc. as we thought that 3/4 months would be enough notice. We receive an e-mail in November 2015 explaining... More

I am very sorry that you had a poor experience with the cottages. I am afraid that the Cottages are nothing whatsoever to do with Barclay House and have not been since summer 2015. The cottages were all sold when the company went into liquidation 2014 and are owned and managed completely separately. I will pass on your concerns to... More

Louise & Simon the hosts are so welcoming & hospitable, we stayed in a beautiful room with a view overlooking the estuary. Barclay house has a very relaxed atmosphere, it is a home with family, a dog & cat who are lovely too. The staircase is beautiful, the whole place is tastefully decorated. Louise puts out a lovely breakfast, fresh... More

We booked this place based on location and especially the views it offered. The access is extremely steep and slippery in the wet. The most damning occurrence was the the beds were literally alive with BED BUGS. Disgusting!! there was also food trodden into a carpet. The final straw was that the bathroom looked to not have been cleaned. All... More
