Just returned from an amazing night in this lovely hotel. Martin was the best host ever and looked after us and made us feel welcome from the start, his breakfast was the best I've ever eaten. Our room was beautiful, clean and warm, really quirky and we even had a working record player so we could play some Bob Marley...

Really good place to stay, could be loud but only till 11pm, good breakfast 5£ extra in the morning and nice atmosphere. Shower needs extra attention as the pressure is not strong. Otherwise nice stay.

Stayed Friday and Saturday night. We were in room 2 that is advertised as a double. The b ed is against a wall and the room is a single room size. The ensuite is tiny and the toilet takes about ten efforts to try and flush. The stair carpet is threadbare and full of holes. The breakfasts are obviously pre-...

The Golden Eagle is ideally located for shopping, restaurants and bars, just a 2 minute walk. Phil checked us in and even came outside to point us to the free car park, he is so laid back which was a good start to the stay. Our room was a bit small and could do with a spruce, the bar downstairs...

We stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting the Christmas market. Martin was the perfect host and his staff were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean, warm and comfortable if a little dated. The breakfast was well cooked as was the steak on Tuesday night. We will definitely recommend the Golden Eagle to friends.

Stayed for three nights and could not have been made more welcome by Martin the owner and his staff. Breakfast was well cooked, rooms comfortable and location great as it is just off a main street in the city centre.
