This is a great pub and sadly there not many left, I'm sure it's over 500 years old !! Just great to be in on a cold winters night having a pint of ale !! Never had a poor night here in 20 years. Beautiful . Enjoy .

Great hotel, middle of the city pretty much everything surrounds it, not far from food outlets or shops, friendly staff, off the road car parking which is a bonus and the rooms are very clean, only downside is the showers have hardly any pressure. Would recommend staying there.

Popped in for lunch one day and discovered the history of the place and that they do paranormal evening so signed up for one and wasn't disappointed. Had a great evening ghost hunting and learning all about the equipment used and the spirits that reside in this ancient building.

Ths hotel is in the heart of the city and within easy walking distance of most of the historical buildings the city has to offer. The hotel itself dates back to 1622 A.D. and the interior reflects this with sloping floors and exposed oak beams. Breakfast is fantastic and plentiful. The rooms are adequate and the bed was comfortable. The... More

Ye Olde King's Head is one of the best inns in Chester that offers accommodation and is in an area of Chester full of historic inns and pubs.Ye Olde King's Head was built in 1622 and is in my opinion one of the most atmospheric inns and reputabley the most haunted with at least thirteen ghosts. This is an excellent inn... We stayed here for one night on a quick visit to Chester. The building is quirky and exactly what you would expect from a building built in 1622. The staff particularly Damian were excellent being both friendly and helpful. The breakfast was good and the beer was fine (they had Black Sheep on draft) The location could not have been... More

Stayed here overnight after attending a family wedding reception there. I can't fault it. Food was fantastic the room was lovely. Staff were brilliant. It's a lovely old, historical pub right in the middle of town.

I was in Chester with my partner on Sunday and stumbled across this gem right in the city center. We were impressed by the wide range of beers and drinks available which were fairly priced and very friendly Staff. The menu was a good selection of the traditional pub food, both me and my partner opted for the roast beef... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Kings Head is a traditional Inn built in 1622 on the west side of Lower Bridge Street. The Inn is a few minutes walk down hill from the Cross. The name refers to when King Charles stayed at the nearby Gamul House during the English Civil War. Since buying the business in March 2012 the current owners have spent thousands of pounds trying to bring the Ye Olde Kings Head back to it's former glory. In November 2012, the property had an extensive refurbishment throughout the bar and restaurant areas, every ensuite bathroom was also replaced and redecorated to a high standard. There are currently three completed refurbished rooms, by mid December 2013 they expect every bedroom to be finished. ... more   less
