Went to this hungry horse pub twice when we were staying overnight in Chester went in evening one day and for lunch day after on way home. ... great value, tasty and hot... quick service by friendly efficient staff ... light bites for £3 - 4 and on the bigger plates options 3 x 5 ounce gammon steaks with the... The room was tiny, the bathroom had broken tiles and a massive crack in the bathroom window, it had dust on the toothbrush holder and toilet roll holder. They have lovely bedside lights but nowhere to plug them in??? We won't be staying again!! Save your money to go to town with.

We had a combo but they ran out of garlic mushrooms. Then they ran out of Sunday roasts so we had to order something else. 2 minutes before they brought the meals they tell me the alternate (scampi) had all gone. Can I re order? So I asked for fish and chips. Meanwhile they brought out the rest of the... More

Chose Oaklands as our venue for Xmas drinks last week. There were four of us and considering the staff were run off their feet with parties and functions they smiled their way through their busy shifts. Excellent prices. At £10 for a bottle of very nice Cava who can grumble ? Town prices would be double that and you wouldn't... More

Fantastic food. Always come here. So convenient for town. Cheap but not low standard. Staff lovely especially Sam! Top member of staff. Poor girl deserves a medal after last night then back up with a friendly smile this morning. Talk about above and beyond. Rooms nice and clean.

Stayed here over night with my partner and enjoyed it to say the least . The rooms are basic but at £40 you get what you pay for , And with most other hotels or b&b' starting at around £90 I must say it was a bargain ! . Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the breakfast next day was very... More

Sat and had a couple of drinks in the beer garden which was very pleasant. Service at the bar was ok but could have done with a few more staff as there was a bit of a queue. Drinks were served nice and cold as we like them. Didn't eat here this time.

Basic room, beer kept in a decent condition. Excellent customer service. We turned up to find the hotel fully booked but it was not a fault of the staff. Despite being extremely busy (it was race day) the manager went above and beyond, looked after us even and sorted out alternative accommodation which he didn't need to do. The manager... More
