My husband and I stayed at the Crowne Plaza in order to have a weekend away and do some Christmas shopping. The hotel is in an ideal location, just a minutes walk from the city centre. Despite it being so central we didn’t hear any noise and we were able to park in the Trinity Road car park which is a stones throw from the main entrance. We were greeted at reception by a very friendly member of staff who told us all we needed to know about the hotel and the local area. We were even given some drink vouchers to be used in the bar which was a very nice touch. The room was modern, clean and spacious, little extras such as bath robes, big bath sheets and toiletries were very welcome. We ate in the bar on the first evening which was a nice meal, my one and only minor issue was that we couldn’t eat in the dining room as it was full, our own fault for not booking in advance maybe and the bar menu didn’t have a great deal of choice. However, the breakfast was amazing, lots of choice and everything was fresh. I would absolutely recommend this hotel to everyone and hope to return.

We stayed for one night in November 2021 to celebrate my birthday. The staff generally were excellent, but I must single out Caitin on reception. Of all the hotels I have stopped in in my life, this was the best check in experience I have ever had. She was so welcoming and nothing we asked of her was too much trouble. She really made us feel special. Thank you! The restaurant staff were also very polite and both evening dinner and breakfast was very good. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the hotel is in an excellent location for the shops, racecourse and for walking around the wall. Overall a very enjoyable stay!

This hotel has everything you need for a nice stay in Chester, staff, bar and breakfast are all very good. But I think for the room rate charged it needs total room renovation. The bathrooms are very old fashioned, shower is on the bath, sinks and lighting are all out dated. Saying all this, you just can’t beat the location - the Christmas market and high street shops and restaurants are all within a few minutes walk away.

Stayed December 2020 with my partner for the night just before Christmas and before things went back into lockdown. We got a great deal that included a nights stay with a sharing platter with cocktail, dinner, bed & breakfast the following morning. Restrictions were in place with mask wearing, social distancing, extra cleaning and alcohol with food only sat at a table. The hotel is really nice and public areas really smart. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and it felt safe. Although there weren’t many staff as it was pretty quiet they were attentive friendly and welcome. Check in was very welcoming and the lady on the desk was so friendly and informative going through everything with us. The hotel was decorated nicely for Christmas it just felt very different with the covid situation but it was a pleasant stay. Our room was nice and comfortable with decent bathroom and everything we needed. We were hooping to have the platter and cocktail in the afternoon for lunch but we were informed it was to be had with our meal which thought strange and current restriction were blamed however it just didn’t make any sense as alcohol could be consumed with food and sat at a table which it would have been. As I have to eat quite regular (I have issues with my sugar levels) we had to pop out for a bite to eat and after a nice stroll around Chester we returned the hotel and had a lovely coffee in the bar/lounge area were we were looked after by a couple of friendly staff again very quiet and peaceful. After getting ready in our room we came down for dinner. We placed our order with the friendly waitress our stay included a 3 course meal we got our cocktails and before our starters arrived we had our sharing platter. It’s here where I feel things were a bit of a let down the food was lovely and all decent portions but it was just all too much at once even with the restrictions they really didn’t need to have the platter with the 3 course meal it would have made more sense to have that earlier in the afternoon even if the reason was limited staff this could have been pre prepared and just brought out. As we were struggling and extremely full and bloated we were having to decline our dessert however the waitress was nice and didn’t was us to miss out on dessert so we agreed to take them back to our room with us we did try them but couldn’t finish such a shame. After a peaceful nights sleep we got for breakfast but again we struggled as we had over done the food all in one sitting the evening before. Staff again were attentive we were given a few continental options under restrictions being brought to the table for us and had the cooked breakfast brought out to the table too. It was all very nice but we just struggled to eat it. Check out was straight forward, wifi decent, a good location and parking onsite. A lovely stay and could have been perfect with a few tweaks.

We booked this hotel on Booking .com and telephoned for a double room with no problem or extra cost. Check-in was very efficient, Charles on the reception was very helpful and we managed to get a car parking place for £10 a day on site. The room was large very well heated with a comfortable bed. The bathroom had a good shower with lovely large bath towels and shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided. Could of done with a couple more coat hangers and a hook on the back of the door for outside coat. The breakfast buffet was excellent with plenty of choice for cereal, fruit and cooked breakfast cold meats and fresh salmon. Good selection of fruit juices and pastries, tea and coffee made to order. We used the swimming pool and spa, which we thoroughly enjoyed on every day of our stay. Locker coins and towels were provided.
