Stayed here for one night before visiting the zoo which is literally 10mins down the road. Lovely large room. The kings head room. It was up some windy stairs. We'd asked for a quiet room so they put us here so we wouldn't hear any noise from above. Fine for us but may be difficult for some. We were checked...

I booked this place as a treat for my boyfriends birthday. When I seen it on booking.com the rating for it was good. I booked for 2 nights. When we first got there. No one approached us as we went into the pub/restaurant and didn't know where to check in. I asked a man and he said you had to...

We stayed just the one night and the price was inexpensive for a nice room. The bedroom was in the main house and "OK'lly" presented with tea and coffee facilities. The bathroom was a bit tired and the silicone round the bath/shower had blackened. Needs redoing. It's a busy pub a good way out of Chester, so taxi in and...

Like most cities parking in Chester is a nightmare. Fortunately they operate an excellent Park & Ride facility (buses every 12 min's & fares at £2 per person return) and the Cheshire Cat is situated just half a mile (approx.) away on the same road. The pub, restaurant, hotel is in a semi rural location and is laid back from...

Called in just before midday on a Monday, orders just being taken for food. Plenty of seating, served quickly. WAITRESS EXCELLENT. Pub in a great location on the canal, plenty of parking if you need it. Food well cooked and presented, a little overpriced as were some of the beers. Good clean toilets. Outside seating area good. Nice atmosphere as...

Easy to find on the A41, Whitchurch Road. Really good location, a very short drive or a pleasant 15 – 20 minutes walk from Broughton Park park and ride into Chester, (£2.00 per person with or without car). You could walk in along canal towpath as far as The Harvester Pub then approximately 5 minutes further on to the park...

Me and my boyfriend booked here for a one night stay on a Friday as we were booked in for a meal at ring o bells which is only a 5 minute walk up the road. So perfect distance for us to be able to have a drink. On arrival we waited to check in, the lad who checked us...

I stayed here with my wife and we were in the annex. Nearly everything about the stay was wonderful - the food is really excellent, the staff are very efficient and friendly, the beer is good, the location is great. Our room, and as it transpired all rooms, have a green security light incorporated into the main room light. This...

We have been twice in 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed each meal and visit. Food is delicious, well presented and on warm plates! Staff attentive and welcoming. Lovely situated by the canal. This time we had fish and chips. The tartare sauce the best I've tasted. Everything cooked to perfection.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Of all the places to stay in Chester, this historic lodge has some of the best tales to tell. Built in Christleton on a key civil war battle site, the Cheshire Cat played a crucial role in World War II before being restored as a warm and welcoming hotel in the 1970s.The lodge's 14 comfy en-suite rooms are complemented by a cosy pub, which is dripping with rustic character and rural charm. Here you can enjoy seasonally inspired country dining together with a range of cask ales and well-chosen wines. There are plenty of things to see and do in Chester. Fantastic shopping, black and white medieval architecture, historic city walls and the famous Chester Racecourse are just a few of its many attractions. Children and adults alike will love Chester zoo or you can explore the weaving footpaths of the unspoilt Delamere Forest. West Cheshire is full of rolling hills, sweeping valleys and quaint market towns worth exploring. ... more   less
