We chose the Grosvenor Pulford for our wedding venue as we thought it was ideal. Unfortunately the staff were not. Prior to the wedding, co ordinator Emma Simon advised nothing would be a problem, or too much trouble - throughout the year she was amazingly helpful and supportive and detailed all our needs and requests on a wedding schedule, unfortunately she was not available the day before or on our wedding day due to sickness. The day before the wedding (quite a number of rooms were booked for bride, family and friends) we were not even met by a co ordinator or member of wedding team even after asking at reception several times - everything seemed too much trouble and the morning of our special day staff were evasive, unhelpful, disorganised and dismissive. A catalogue of events caused stress and anxiety and confusion. The wedding schedule was not completely adhered to which resulted in the middle tier of our cake having to be binned. Emails were sent and met with staff - to raise our concerns and explain how it has impacted how we felt - this was to be looked into, no explanation was giving. A letter was sent to the owner who also gave no explanation and totally disregarded the situation regarding the cake. The letter also stated that now we have got it off our chest she hoped that our negative experience would not deter us from returning to the hotel. This is unsatisfactory and totally unacceptable especially for a hotel that was supposed to have such high standards.

Booked a two night midweek break called the weekender in an executive double. The room was number 4 it was a lovely room on the ground floor. The room itself Had a terrible damp smell really overpowering. The staff brought in a diffuser from the spa to help combat the smell. It didn’t help because the smell was to strong. They were going to get the maintenance team to try and find out we’re the smell was coming from after we checked out All the staff were very friendly and helpful! Nothing was to much trouble. We found the food in the Palm court was exceptional, it’s a very nice restaurant and piano bar. We also ate in Nelsons bar the food was also really nice. The hotel gardens were beautiful and well maintained. We had lovely weather when we stayed. So were able to enjoy them. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this beautiful hotel.

Me and my partner came here for our first year anniversary, When i rang to book i did mention it were anniversary and they offered us a room in the honeymoon room upgrade. The lady on the desk was lovely and we got checked in straight away, we left some chocolates and a card for our anniversary so sweet and such a nice touch. The setting of the hotel was lovely, we had a nice quiet drink by the pond as it were a nice day and enjoyed some pub grub in the nelson for lunch. The nelson does lack outdoor tables as its a small space and it would have been nice to eat outside. The spa did disappoint us, we were very let down by this, the pool isnt attractive at all, we asked if we could use the spa facilities, You would think being paying guests of the hotel you would be able to use this, but no, this is just for people who book the spa day, strange! We also asked if we could sit in the garden where the spa is and have a drink, we were again told no but we can after 5 although you cant buy drinks after 5? This was not good customer service. We had a lovely bath in the room and order room service, tip, dont order room service whilst your partner is in the bath, the staff walk straight in the room to put them on the table, luckily my partner stopped him half way lol! We ate in the palm restaurant on the night, this was lovely, me and my partner are quite fussy eaters but we found something and really really enjoyed it all. Followed by some lovely cocktails to end the evening. The only thing i will say which did slightly let it down was the room was over the kitchen so when you walked into the room, you can almost smell chip fat, and we woke up to what sounded like drilling, i think this was a blender from the kitchen, not the most pleasant when this is meant to be for a honeymoon room. The breakfast is one of the best buffet breakfasts i think i ever have ever had, AMAZING! Could of had it twice over! Lovely stay and would definitely return.

Thanks for your positive comments and constructive feedback. We're delighted you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you again in future. In terms of our Spa, the leisure facilities (pool, Jacuzzi etc) are available to use to hotel guests, but as you mention the spa facilities and treatments are for guests and visitors who have paid for specific treatments and experiences. Regarding the smell and noise you mention, we'll pass these comments onto the relevant team for review.

We stayed here for a night for our anniversary and the it was perfect from start to finish. The hotel is beautiful and the staff were extremely attentive. We booked a Deluxe Double room and it was worth every penny. The room and bathroom was so spacious and everything was finished to a very high standard. It was a lovely touch to be left chocolates for our anniversary. The pool area/spa was very nice and a lovely way to unwind. We went to Palm Court for drinks and again it was fantastic, the atmosphere from the pianist was brilliant. We also ate here for breakfast which had a vast selection and choice. Overall we had a brilliant stay and definitely will return, we also hope to visit some of the other hotels in the chain.

We stayed here for a two night break to Chester and environs. The hotel had received excellent reviews, and they are well deserved. The hotel's location is very convenient for visiting both Chester and the zoo. It is an attractive building in a quiet location with plenty of on site parking. The foyer is impressive, very modern, with a spiral staircase, and interesting accent pieces, such as impressive flower arrangements and light fittings. The staff were welcoming, polite and efficient. Our Executive room was clean and well appointed, but the view of walls, rooftops and an adjacent room was disappointing. Breakfast was served in the Palm Court, a beautiful room, and, in addition to the buffet, items could be ordered from the menu. My husband raved about his Eggs Benedict! The staff at both breakfast and dinner were polite and friendly. We would definitely recommend to family and friends!
