The hotel itself is run down and there are plug in fresheners everywhere to try and hide the old and dusty smell (but they don't) we arrived in our room up about 6 flights of steep stairs (no lift) to reveal that we were in an attic room with extremely low ceilings where we of course bumped our heads several... I can not say enough about the staff at this hotel, they were polite and friendly and professional but I do pity them for the antiquated systems and the surroundings they work in. They really deserve better! The rooms are quite, quite dreadful. Dated is an understatement. Decor and bedding aside, some serious work needs to be done on this... More

The only good things about this hotel were the location and the price, the rest was just a huge disappointment. The heating was switched off at 11 PM, including warm water in the tap. They gave me a fan heater and advised to use ear plugs. The bed was way too soft and squeaky. The window roller was broken even... More

Couldn't understand a word from the woman on reception when I checked in, she was really unhelpful. Room was disappointing, unclean and could have done with modernisation. However, I enjoyed the cooked breakfast and the young lady on reception in the morning was really cheerful and helpful.

Friendly staff on reception and the restaurant. Breakfast adequate. Very disappointed with the bedroom. Bed old and uncomfortable. Reception on T/V not good. Heating came on at 6.00pm, cold room before then, Wallpaper old and in need of redecoration. We were on the second floor, did not see any lift. Lightning in the corridors very poor,

I stayed the night in Chester due to having an interview early the next morning at the University of Chester, so I was looking for somewhere inexpensive to stay. I'm very glad I chose this hotel. The staff that I came across in my short time at the hotel were very welcoming and friendly. The receptionist in particular, who was... More

I essentially just needed this hotel for a bed after a night out, I wasn't expecting much but I was pleasantly surprised. The decor may be outdated however the room was clean, the bed was really comfy. It was perfect value for money for what I needed it for and would definitely stay again. My only criticism is that I... Worst hotel I've ever stayed in, windows broken, bare light bulb as in no shade, cold and draughty and the bed was knackered. Chester is a beautiful City please don't ruin your stay by booking here, will never return.

I have stayed at this hotel and for the price you cant complain. Location is good, the train station is over the road and Chester is just a walk away. Its a 2 star hotel so you cant expect the Ritz, however, its clean and the staff we dealt with were lovely and friendly. I cant knock it, breakfast was... More

The hotel was basic but clean and essentially all my friends and myself needed! If you can look past the decor of the rooms and mismatch bathroom furniture your onto a winner! We didn't try the breakfast but the hotel is only a short walk to the city centre and a stones throw from the rail station! Should you just... More
