Granted the hotel is dated and needs a refit, but you get what you pay for. £40.00 for a city centre hotel on a Saturday night. (bargain) Staff are lovely and the room I stayed in was basic, clean and tidy. Room 4. I would recommend this hotel if you want a base its right near the train station and... More

I stayed here on a Saturday night for a stag do. It had a night porter so we could get in late, which we did. I read some of the worst reviews and was a bit surprised at them. Some of what they said was understandable but some perspective is needed. The board outside said £55 with breakfast £5.50 extra.... More

I wouldn't recommend staying at this hotel. It has a lot of potential to be good but it pretty much needs to be gutted and refitted completely. There was a just a really dank smell throughout the place that you can't escape. It's noisy and creaky and to be honest I didn't feel 100% safe there because I thought there... More

We were charged £220 for a £40 room because Chester races were on. The staff were fine, the room has not been decorated since about 1976! The room was tiny and the heating was absolutely blasting each morning, which made you feel ill! I could not wait to get out of there - it is a dive and I will... More

The hotel itself is run down and there are plug in fresheners everywhere to try and hide the old and dusty smell (but they don't) we arrived in our room up about 6 flights of steep stairs (no lift) to reveal that we were in an attic room with extremely low ceilings where we of course bumped our heads several... I can not say enough about the staff at this hotel, they were polite and friendly and professional but I do pity them for the antiquated systems and the surroundings they work in. They really deserve better! The rooms are quite, quite dreadful. Dated is an understatement. Decor and bedding aside, some serious work needs to be done on this... More

The only good things about this hotel were the location and the price, the rest was just a huge disappointment. The heating was switched off at 11 PM, including warm water in the tap. They gave me a fan heater and advised to use ear plugs. The bed was way too soft and squeaky. The window roller was broken even... More
