The Anchor, Sutton Gault, is by far the best restaurant in the area and indeed, Cambridgeshire. The food is sublime and beautifully presented, - nothing is too much trouble for the staff. Although quite pricey, if you want a special meal to remember, then book here!

We stayed overnight and were amazed at the thoughtful extras - beyond the imaginative menu, warm welcome and peaceful location. A fridge in the room to keep the fresh milk and bottles of water cool; an electric fan to keep you cool; 3D enabled TV with glasses at the ready, comfortable chairs; and wonderful to find not just a teapot... Let me start by saying I am a foodie and I am very critical. The Anchor is in a very pretty setting by the river and there is a lovely walk along the river bank. We saw a barn owl fly across the river in front of us.We went for lunch on a very hot day and sat outside in... More

We've recently started to use this venue as a meeting place with family that live in Norfolk as it's fairly equidistant. We've said the food is so good we're happy to make it our regular venue. Don't go here if you want run of the mill pub food as you will be disappointed. Go here if you want something different... More

The Anchor is set in a lovely location by the river. Very nicely appointed room and warm welcome by staff who took the time to bring a prepared continental breakfast to my room on arrival as I had to check out before usual breakfast time. Would definitely recommend

Great evening spent at this well reviewed inn. The food was good/excellent, the service relaxed & efficient with a nice buzz to the proceedings. Six of us caught up on our lives & thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Will return.

Needed a room for the night with breakfast after visiting Cambridge. 20 minute drive from the centre, lovely location. Restaurant if you get there early (I arrived 9pm, so closing down). Nice room with wifi. Glorious breakfast, all cooked freshly - would stay again rather than a high cost option in Central Cambridge.

Having stayed here and dined three times per year for past 20 years while attending local auction I am very pleased that this establishment has returned to its former glory under new ownership. Substantial refurbishment has taken place and food and bedrooms are excellent and very reasonable. A former staff member from the "old original regime" is now in charge... More

We arrived at The Anchor Inn before 2pm which is time stated that you can check in from. We had a drink and even though it was past the time for food we asked if there was a chance of having a sandwich. The staff could not have been more helpful. We had lovely sandwiches made with a speciality bread... More

We met with friends on the evening of 4th Jan and thought we may be the only ones there as it was a Monday and just after all the festivities too but were surprised that both of the two main dining areas were full. The two servers were very chatty, attentive and polite. We never had an empty glass !... More
