I chose this guest house as it is just up the road from my son and I was visiting him. I booked on Booking.com and the pictures there looked fine. It was a similar price to the Travelodge up the road so I booked in. I was offered the choice of 3 rooms and I chose the ground floor room... More

Called on the day of arrival.. At approx 11am to tell us they'd forgotten about our booking and we're now fully booked!! Luckily the premier inn came to our rescue but an extra £50 more!! Compensation? I think so.. As we were stranded!! Thank you!!

I make regular trips to Cambridge for work and sometimes book accommodation at short notice. I selected 'Brooklands Guest House' because of the reasonable price and the location close to the railway station. Although the decor is rather dated - particularly in the entrance hall - the bedroom, although small, was serviceable and the dining room was pleasant. Despite arriving... More

Can't figure out why there are so many negative views upon this hotel and the owner -- a kindly lady with a handsome white dog. I think it's really worth the price to get corresponding services here in expensive Cambridge. If you want a 5-star hotel experience, just don't go there. Upon arrival, the lady gave us warm welcome. We... More

I think this place gets a lot of bad press but then if you dont know Cambridge then you can be forgiven for thinking this is a high quality place to stay. Its not. Pay more if you want Cambridge luxury and stay central. Ive never paid more than £55 for a night here (single tariff). You can pay the... More

We had booked 2 rooms in this "guesthouse" for 2 nights based on their nice looking website, it all appeared to be very misleading. Me and my wife were put in the attic where, if I bended my head, could touch both walls with my shoulders. It was impossible to stand upstraight. The fan of the shower compartment was so... More

I arrived late one evening and the door was locked. I rang the number posted on the door and the owner (?) gave me a 4 digit passcode to open the door. There was nowhere to lock my bike and I couldn't get through the locked side door to a passage. The owner said he'd be along later and open... More

I booked a room for one night 5 months in advance and had to cancel it only 5 hours after it was booked and had to pay the full amount of £75 as a cancellation fee! I could understand it if it was a week before I was due to arrive, but 5 months is plenty of notice, and it's... More

The room, breakfast and overall service were excellent, especially considering the price. The decor is quite old fashioned and eccentric but no worse for that. The room was quite small but had a lovely comfortable bed. There was even a jacuzzi but i didn't use it as i didn't want to wake the neighbours (!) The breakfast was superb and... More
