The room was large (big enough for a travel cot) and clean but the bed was uncomfortable and creaked badly. The pillows were just foam stuffed cases, so lumpy. On the plus side the room had all you could need and free parking was a available. A good location to spore Cambridge and surrounding areas. With a decent bed and... More

The owners were very accomodating since I arrived in Cambridge in the early morning hours. Other than that it was very expensive considering how basic the accomodation is. The level of comfort is about the same as a basic European hostel (but at twice the price). The wifi signal is not strong enough to work in some of the rooms.... More

We stayed at Aylesbray Lodge on 2nd July. Booked a family room for me, my husband and 2 children. This place is NOTHING like the pictures on the website. It smells musty in the reception, it's dated and its dirty. Our room was extremely tired, marks on the walls, dead flys on the walls that previous guests must have killed,... More

Dingy, depressing, dark and not v clean. Tiny single room directly overlooking primary road therefore constant traffic noise and slamming doors of other guests unfortunate enough to also be staying there. I had on booking informed owner that my husband was attending Addenbrooks for Radiotherapy. He assured me he would look after him and have breakfast at 7.30. However there was no... More

Welcomed into the lodge we were sent on to the annex. Room small but clean apart from the windows that had not seen a clean this year. On suite so small you couldn't turn around and we are both small people. Kettle in room but no milk or tea. Went back to reception but never manned. wifi intermittent. The lock... More

My room was dirty, including carpets, bed linen, walls, cups. The host George levied an extra charge on my bill without discussing this with me, and was most hostile when I brought this up. Bed springs poked up through mattress. Electrical wirings hanging loose out of sockets.

Dated guest house(not a B and B as we were expecting) in need of refurbishment. Situated some distance out of the Town. Room was adequate for our one night stay but not well appointed and not clean. The owner did however agree to our arriving early which was appreciated as was his assistance in accessing transport into the City and... More

Was visiting family in Cambridge for the weekend, we had two rooms. First of all the owner greeted us with 'how would you like to pay'.... Money upfront, no questions asked, this was the last time we seen of him. The rooms, are old fashioned with dust and mould everywhere, the mattresses were worn very Badly, in both rooms! And... Stayed for 2 nights mid week. Never met the owners or any staff at all. Room was small. The en suite was fine with soap and shower gel in dispensers on the walls. The wifi was poor at best. Expensive for what is being offered. Breakfast not included.

I booked this guest house as it is within walking distance to Cambridge University Hospital. I was expecting a decent stay as it is a '4-star' guest house according to the booking website. However, I was appalled to find poo in the toilet bowl upon entering the toilet. The room was also filthy, small and extremely cold. The heating in... More
