Stayed here for one night - reasonably priced and it was pretty awesome having the pub just downstairs. Absolutely nothing to write home about in terms of luxury - the beds are more or less just Ikea furniture and there's shared bathrooms but everything was clean, secure, and the staff was friendly. If you're staying over for a night or... More

Tremendous pub for socialising and, critically, music! Lovely atmosphere in the venue with some big names and local bands. Stage is a nice height to make viewing good, but without ruining the intimacy of live music.

We went to the Portland Arms on Valentine's night for the Sunday session which is held in a separate part of the pub, It cost us £5 on the door, a bit basic and cold but we had a great evening. The compère and comedian for the evening was George Rigden and he was very good, made me laugh a... More

It has greatly improved in the last year or so. We go here regularly for a mid week lunch, which with the buy one get second for £1 offer makes it good value for money. There's plenty of choice on the menu and the food is excellent. I can personally recommend the cajun chicken and the calamari - yum.

Came here for Sunday lunch and to watch the football. A lovely pub, a love the old style decor. However was freezing cold. It was a freezing cold day though, so not really an issue. Sunday lunch was lovely, my friend had roast beef and I had the roast pork. We both cleared our plates, was very delicious, although the... More

Came to this venue to see South African musician, Jeremy Loops. The venue holds approximately 200 people packed nicely into a room behind the main pub. The acoustics were great and the stage design allows close up interaction with the performers. Loop's show was brilliant, the sold out venue thoroughly entertained by this talented troubadour on the Cambridge leg of... More

To be fair the Portland didn't have a very good reputation for their food for a good few years but I had Sunday lunch there 2 weeks ago and it was brilliant .I had the nut roast for under 8 pounds and everything on the plate was cooked to perfection, it was a home cooked roast just like your nana... Friendly and helpful bar staff. Nice pint of Greene King Mild. I wanted to eat vegetarian and the blue cheese and mushroom carbobnara sounded good - and it was! Hot, a good pile of food and garlic bread with it too. Very reasonable and very tasty.

Nice food, reasonable prices. Have events so check our website. Went to a fun rnb and blues night. We ordered the Cajun chicken burger and the beef burgers, both of which were well presented, well cooked and very tasty. Worth a stop for lunch or dinner if in the area.
