Bed was huge and very comfortable. Bathroom had an amazing view over Bristol and a bath in front of the window so you could relax and look out over the city. Nice big TV. Excellent complementary tea and coffee on arrival. Breakfast was very tasty - all very good quality. Only on street parking which is free at w/e but... More

Stayed here on business a few times. The rooms are well thought out, and I like the simple charm of the decor. During the colder months the rooms are always warm and inviting, and there's always calming classical music on the radio to welcome you; not everyone's taste maybe but I like it as a little welcome. Very friendly staff... More

A lovely boutique hotel who gave us an upgrade into one of their best rooms. Fantastic views over the City, the most comfortable bed with luxurious soft sheet. Superb breakfast - the only tip would be to give guests a bigger cup for their tea in their room! Highly recommend it.

We have stayed in the hotel several times and can thoroughly recommend it particularly close to University Wills Hall and visiting offspring. The breakfasts are very good in nice surroundings all the papers available to read and the staff are excellent. The accommodation is boutique feel with Scandinavian influence. We've tried other hotels in the city but this one keep... More

We recently stayed here for 1 night to attend a funeral in Bristol. We had Room 4, on the first floor, which had a shower room, no bath. We'd chosen Number 38 as we thought it would be a different experience to the standard hotel. We've stayed in many boutique hotels/B&Bs before and we had very high expectations of Number... More

Spent Christmas Eve at this hotel en route to family for Christmas Day. The room was extremely comfortably and looked out over The Downs. There is a nice lounge which is available to guests until 8 p.m. and we were offered free port and mince pies - a nice touch. Breakfast was fabulous - loads of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals,... Number Thirty Eight proved to be a great (and quiet) place to stay. The west loft suite is not as big as suites in other hotels but it's so unique with his dark but pleasurable palette, a huge bed and completely equipped with everything you need. We have been welcomed with free mince pies and port wine in a relaxing... More

My second time staying here and it is just such a treat. Even though I'm here on business it's like a mini spa break or something. When I called to ask could I check in early the male receptionist said of course-if my room was not ready I could sit in the lounge and enjoy complimentary tea/coffee while they readied... More
