We really enjoyed the Berkeley Square Hotel. The staff were friendly, the room was lovely and the food was imaginative and tasty. We would highly recommend it - it’s in a fantastic location on a quiet Georgian square between the city centre and Clifton village. Lots of places to eat nearby if you don’t want to eat at the hotel. The only downside is parking - we got the last space but it is somewhat limited locally.

This is really a wonderful place... Stylish with a down-to-Earth vibe, yet still equipped with amenities and services for all of your needs. There is a lounge area which is really relaxing - complimented with art along the walls, chill music in the background, and a variety of sofas and comfy chairs where you can chill or, in my case (as well as a few people that I noticed) work without interruption - with wifi and power access no matter where you are. The all-day menu has a variety to choose from, no matter what your taste is. Jumping between items and eating at random times, I've had a lot of different dishes and all of them tasted great and filling, so good on value. Downstairs is the hidden a gem that's open to guests and members: a bar with access to a patio secret garden area, specializing in prohibition era cocktails. There are enough cordials, bitters, syrups and spirits (and skills!) to make almost any classic you can think of, but the ever-changing menu has something for absolutely anyone. The best part, by far, is the staff. I visited during a very critical transition between counties and this was a very suitable hub to conduct business in a relaxed setting. Not only did I have everything that I needed, but all of my questions were answered and the attention that was given made me feel as if I was the only person staying there. Big thank you to Rebekah and Trish for the hospitality and kindness with check-in, stuff about the hotel and any questions that I had; thank you Sebastien for the bar service - really creative in mixology, attentive to people and details, and putting 100% of care into each concoction; finalement, un grand merci to Clementine for being so open and warm with advice and help with my hotel stay and my transition to Bristol. Experiences and interactions like these are how you properly move to a new city. Whether short stay or long term, you cannot go wrong stay here. Cheers!

The staff at the Berkeley are absolutely lovely and get 5 stars. Clementine and her colleagues and the lovely cocktail bar man were just great. However the rooms we witnessed are in need of some proper standard maintenance and this really affected our enjoyment. We were put in Room 4 lower deck. The Airbnb photo that sold us the room showed an ample double bed, but Room 4 has a double divan with a much smaller mattress on it (might be a UK queen size) so we could see about 4 inches of the old rather grotty base on each side of the mattress. The mini bar had a wall of solid ice at the back, the bin was broken and the furniture unit was odd since it had little square niches that seemed to be housing for appliances of which there were none. Also the bathroom was suffering from black mould in the grouting which though this is not a sign of poor cleaning, it is a sign that it has not been maintained. This kind of mould needs proper removal once every 6 months or so. We gritted our teeth and went for dinner in the hotel with our friends - only to be told that the chef had had to leave unexpectedly and so our table was cancelled. They were hugely apologetic. We had to get an Indian takeaway. The next day we decided to mention the quality of our room. Clementine at reception went and looked at our room and agreed the bed was not as it should be and moved us to a comparable room - Room 1. Now we understood what the square housing was for...a cd... this room also had a Roberts radio and a bin that looked ok. But guess what - it was noisy. At 1 am we had to call reception because of the loud music booming from next door. The lovely guy at reception dealt with it and we thought surely nothing else could go wrong. However in the morning we discovered the shower did not work and was on boiling hot all the time. Clementine came down and tried the shower too and agreed it was broken... so we used the shower in room 4 again. The hotel provided us with a couple of rounds of free cocktails as an apology for cancelling dinner, gave us free parking (they normally charge £17 per night) and a 20 percent discount on our room. This made us feel a bit better, but obviously we should not have had to complain in the first place. And I am still waiting for the discount which has to be made through the booking agent (airbnb). Nothing from the hotel yet but a promise. Again not ideal. We'll have to see what happens.

Dear 542francesm, Thank you for your review. Our staff work very hard so I am glad to hear you received a good service from Clementine and other staff members. We take all feedback very seriously and I am sorry that on this occassion we did not provide the excellent product that we usually provide. I am very sorry that the room did not meet your expectations. We have noticed that the pictures on airbnb do not fully represent the rooms and we have since corrected this. Thank you for bringing this to our attention. I have informed the maintenance team about the problems you experienced with the bathroom. We are also looking into how we can resolve any issues with the bedframe and mattress. Unfortunately on the night you attended the restaurant, the chef experienced a health emergency. We have a strict health and safey policy regarding food preparation and we did not want to take any risks that would put our guests at risk. I can assure you that we have issued the refund through our partners at airbnb. If you would like to discuss this further, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Kind regards, Jeka Kolesova Operation Managaer
