My husband and I visited this hotel as we were attending an event there. The reception staff were excellent. The staff at breakfast were very helpful and the general cleanliness of the hotel was good. However the room was disappointing. I had called in advance to ask if they had

Ideally situated for the main shopping centre, this hotel should tick all of the boxes but sadly I found it lacking.
Firstly only one lift was working, apparently this is on-going so beware.
I found the whole place to be rather tired looking, with threadbare carpets, grubby paint

Responded yesterday
Dear SkimadBristol, Thank you for taking the time to provide us with feedback following your recent stay here at the Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre. Firstly, please accept my sincere apologies for the disappointing aspects of your stay. Here at the hotel, we aim to provide our guests with an excellent hotel experience and we are so sorry to read that this was not the case during your stay with us. Please be assured that your lovely comments about the breakfast waitress have been shared with their manager/Senior Management Team to ensure that they are properly recognised for your feedback. Unfortunately, in regards to the lift there was a mechanical failure which resulted in the hotel unable to safely operate the lifts for its guests. I apologise about the long delay waiting for the lift which resulted in you using the stairs. Please be assured we were working on this as quick as possible to resolve this issue. With regards to your comments about the feel of the hotel, we do try our utmost to keep our building and the decor well maintained. I apologise that you do not feel that this is the case during your stay and I can assure you that your comments have been taken on board and passed to our senior management team. Although it is never pleasant to read that one of our guests has had a disappointing experience, feedback like this is one way by which we can monitor our standards and effect change when necessary. We do hope that we will welcome you back to the Bristol Marriott Hotel City Centre again soon so that we may have the opportunity to restore your faith in our hotel. Kind Regards, Katie

We are considering staying here for a few days mid May 2019. We will be traveling via public transportation. From what I can tell, this hotel in within easy walking distance of the train station. Is that correct? In addition to visiting Bath and taking a guided bus tour of Stonehenge, we are thinking about a day trip to Cardiff. Is that something you would recommend? Thanks for any info or suggestions, Susie (from California)
Theoretically, one can walk from the station to the hotel. We have done it before. But there is a lot of building work going on and roads and roundabouts being updated. This seems to go on forever. We took a taxi this last time and were glad that we did. It was much easier, and not far. It's easy to get to Cardiff. We have never been there, so can't recommend, but people do like it. At the hotel, ask for a room as high as possible. That'll get you further away from the traffic. The views from higher floors across the park and the city are great - but you need to ask for a room at the front for this. From the park there is a ferry stop at the river. It's a great way to get down to the city centre and to see the SS Great Britain. If you google Bristol Ferry Boats you can download timetables - this is really worth doing. Have a great holiday.
