I think the Mayfair Lodge undersells itself. It is a beautiful (Victorian?) property with many of the original features in tip top condition. We had requested a twin and were given Room 1 on the ground floor which comfortably accomodated a double and a single bed with a spacious shower room. It ranks amongst the most spotlessly clean premises in... More

I booked the Mayfair Lodge at the last minute as our regular B&B had let us down due to refurbishments not being completed on time and I was attending a small conference in Bristol that coming weekend with 2 friends. What a pleasant surprise we had. The hotel, although further away from the conference venue than we would have liked... More

Stayed for one night, very comfortable bed, clean and nicely decorated room and shower room, we were in number 7 which was very quiet. Excellent breakfast, good coffee, there is also a very attractive sitting room for guests which not all b&b's have, unfortunately did not have the opportunity to use it. The only suggestion I have is that in our... More

Service was great, very friendly and accomodating. Rooms were kept well. Whole place had character and felt very home like, but that didn't let the standards of cleanliness slip. Overall a very enjoyable stay. Also, great location, in walking distance of town.

Can't believe Jean Brett was at the same B&B. very comfortable, super breakfast done perfectly to my rather quirky requirements (eg only yolk of fried egg) had family room to share with my sister and our 92 year old mother...Avril couldn't have been more helpful. Had our own key to the house so we weren't dependent on the owners. Just... More

I stayed at the Mayfair on Saturday night, the cost at £45 for a single room with bathroom was very reasonable. The Mayfair is a lovely Victorian house, exactly what I expected. The rooms were very comfortable, mine was cozy and at the top of the house, but I liked it that way... The room had lots of little personal,touches...... More

When in the Uk last year I travelled from one side of the uk to the other plus london and paris. I found Mayfair Lodge to be excellent, with the proprietors on hand if you needed them, a friendly smile on arrival and the best cooked breakfast the whole time I was travelling. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble,... More

We stayed two nights recently, the welcome was quite adequate and the room very clean comfortable and warm albeit smaller than some twin rooms we have stayed in, and there was no room for swinging any cats in the ensuite. First night we did have problems parking nearby on the road but managed to park in the back on the... More

To counter other comments here, on this establishment, the lady who is the owner I would say is a conscientious person of few words. I am also conscious that if I book for a night and later in the day cancel, I might be liable for 'losing' another guest booking and hence would expect to pay - it has happened... More
