The bass from the club downstairs with shake you to your core, and earplugs won't do a damn thing. Woke up Saturday morning, sleep deprived, with a splitting headache. Dirty facilities, uncomfortable beds and hardly any cleaning in the rooms. Go anywhere else - I endured 6 nights just so you don't have to.
The purpose of our trip was partying and we had ear plugs, so the noise of the bar beneath the hostel wasn't a problem for us, but people wanting to rest should consider this before booking. As said in the subject, the staff was really nice. The beds were really comfortable and the covers warm enough (needed because it was cold in the room, but it was June and we didn't expect the heating to be on). I missed some opaque cortains or blinds in the rooms. The location was really nice, in the city centre. A big issue in this place was the cleaning. Most of the times the toilets were disgusting and anyone would avoid using them. We found lots of dirt under the beds. The showers' locker room was wet the whole time. We didn't cook in the kitchen and we just heated some water for…
Where to start? I think it’s important to point out early on that the Rock n Bowl actually didn’t have much control over the issues I experienced during my stay, but I feel compelled to share my experience. On Wednesday the 5th of June, I was able to acquire a last minute ticket to see Muse at Ashton Gate in Bristol; having seen them twice before, a £40 ticket seemed too good to turn down! With just a few hours notice, I was able to finagle (first time I have ever used that word, but I like it) an early finish from work to get a lift from Plymouth to Bristol with a friend (and his wife) who were also attending the gig, as well as being able to start late the next to allow for the morning drive back – Result! Now all that was needed was a place to stay; another friend who was…
Nice friendly staff...rooms clean showers spotless. Luggage room...live music and Bowling alley onsite. City centre location. Breakfast included in price..hairdryer available no extra charge. Washing machine and dryer also
Ok so let's start with the positives: It is in a great location in the city center, it is relatively clean and the showers work. That's about it. Everything else about this place was terrible. There is a nightclub underneath it and it is so loud that your room and the bed you are in will literally shake and vibrate all night until they finally stop playing at 3am. But you still won't be able to sleep at that point because then the bar staff have to smash all the empty bottles afterwards. I get that it is a hostel. If I want good food I'll go to a restaurant. If I want good service I'll go to a hotel. All I wanted was a cheap place to sleep in and they couldn't even provide that (at a price that was triple what I have paid in other bigger cities)
