I stayed here for my 40th birthday on the Saturday night (April 25th). We arrived at 13.00 greeted by a very polite and cheerful receptionist, and shown to our room by an equally as cheerful lad. The room (the suite room) was amazing. Classy in many ways, but not over the top. The whole place exudes class but none of...

We stayed recently at The Peacock for one night. Dinner was very good - superb service throughout the evening and delicious dinner. Comfortable bed, good breakfast - what more can one want? Steep stairs to second floor only for the able.

Thank you so much for your very kind review. We are all so pleased you enjoyed staying at the Peacock and hope you will come back again soon. You are right to point out that rooms 16 and 17 are up some rather steep stairs - unfortunately there is little we can do about this on account of the age...

My husband and I have just spent two nights at the Peacock Hotel and were very glad that our first choice hotel was fully booked. The staff were polite and welcoming, but not fawning. The lounge was very comfortable and we loved the coffee and delicious home made shortbread. Our bedroom (No.6) was very comfortable and well furnished, and the...

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to write your very kind review. I am so pleased your first stay at the Peacock was such a success and that you enjoyed your room and our restaurant. I will pass on your comments about the cheese to Chef Dan; he is particularly keen on his cheeses and tries to offer...

What a jewel in the Peak District! A fabulous dinner in a gem of a town not far from Bakewell. We ate in the bar by the fire and were treated to a wonderful seasonal dinner. Also some of the best bread we had on our trip in the UK. Homemade and locally sourced. Just delightful!

Thank you so much for your kind review and many apologies for the slow response. I am delighted you enjoyed your dinner in our bar - our bar menu is very popular and it is particularly cosy with the open fire in the winter months. If you enjoy your food do come back and try our new Spring fine dining...

We stayed at The Peacock for a family get-together and Birthday Dinner over a weekend. Service and food was excellent. Staff were always on-hand to help, advise and serve. This may not be the cheapest country hotel, but the comforts and quality justified the price. Dinners portions were ample, making the buffet breakfast perfectly adequate the following morning, so we...

We took my parents there for a treat this weekend. The hotel staff were obliging, helpful and the food was the best we've had there (apparently a new chef). Ravioli was utterly superb. Bacon for breakfast this morning, beer in the bar (real ale) was real good. If I had one moan, it is the absence of a lift for...

A truly stunning restaurant, it exceeded our expectations and beyond that again! Everything from start to finish was immaculate, the food was the best we have had in a very long while, and we like to fine dine. The hoggart was exceptional as was my husbands duck. The Pre dessert was one of the yummiest. The only draw back, I...

There are many hotels that do good rooms, many that do good food and many that offer good service. However, it's rare that you find one that does all of these things together and, manages to do them so well. Great rooms, great food and great service... Welcome to The Peacock at Rowsley. Have just spent a lovely couple of...

A very special hidden gem. Clearly a truly loved piece of family history, lovingly maintained and decorated, unspoilt luxurious country chic furnishings, log fires and a warm and professional welcome and service throughout. Finally a country retreat that charges professional rates that is actually worth it, unlike so many other country bolt holes that don't get it quite right. The...
