WE dined in the private dining room in-laws, out-laws, a 2 yr old a baby and a dog, the food was excellent , the service was excellent and understanding. The relaxed but elegant atmosphere is as I remember it from many decades ago, this is the second year we have managed a family gathering and I hope we can manage...

My brothers and I stayed for a couple of nights to do some fishing. Lovely place. Beautiful setting. The staff were incredibly helpful and the food and drink excellent. The beds were wonderful. We'll be back.

Charming staff, excellent food though a sandwich in the lounge at teatime was a doorstopper. But very small room 15, described as superior, has the smallest bathroom we have ever seen with a towel rail so hot as to be dangerous. Pillows on the bed were hard and lumpy and had to be changed to something acceptable and the shower...

The menu was well balanced and exciting. The special was brill with a bouillabaisse sauce which was absolutely outstanding. The pork starter, the duck confit main, the vanilla mousse and the petits fours were all the best we had ever tasted. Each dish was prepared with great care and - I believe - worthy of a Michelin star. We loved...

A lovely setting with an old building that has been bought right up to date. The service is friendly and at lunchtime you can have a bar snack or a light lunch so called of three courses. This means a smaller main course but with the other two courses wasn't over facing. The starter that I chose of chicken parfait...

The Peacock Hotel is beautiful. It's interior is a stylish country house. The beds and rooms are so comfortable and the food is delicious. The one thing though that has stood out to me this weekend is how incredibly helpful the staff are. They went beyond the call of duty in gladly providing me with flasks of tea and coffee...

My fiancé booked this beautiful hotel for a weekend away to relax and have some us time . We were greeted by Oliver who was very pleasant and helpful. The lounge and bar were intimate and cosy. Our room (15) was perfect , a decent size with a lovely lounge area . We had breakfast in there the next morning...

Absolutely excellent in every respect. Superb service, food and accommodation. WE ate in both the restraunt and the bar, both excellent, full table service. Hotel is well situated for both Haddon Hall and Chatsworth being between the two. Bakewell 10 mins away.

Went on Saturday night to celebrate anniversary. We thought it was worth ever penny. What a fabulous and quaint place. I just have to talk my other half into booking a stay next time. Food was really lovely, especially my pineapple dessert. I really hope to visit again.

This lovely old inn fronts virtually straight onto the busy A6 between Matlock and Bakewell, however don't let this put you off - the rooms facing the road have very effective secondary glazing behind the ancient leaded light windows. The car park is reached from a side road, necessitating a little walk with your bags, and the check-in area is...
