I spent two night here on business. The room was spacious, quiet and clean and the staff were very attentive and professional! I had an early start which following my second night and the management accommodated by opening breakfast early. Excellent service.

We visited whilst on holiday nearby and had eaten here before. A couple of tips... Number 1....It gets very busy in the summer and at weekends. Book a table to avoid a long wait or disappointment. Number 2....Order your drinks at the bar. Don't order with your waitress. We waited half an hour after ordering and despite asking a couple... More

Don't book room 8. The room is dark dingy and has an unpleasant smell and overlooks the bins. I did get moved after the 1st night when I complained but as it was only a 2 day stay 50% of the stay was ruined! Breakfast was ok. Staff were quite helpful.

Every time we stay in The Peak District we eat here. Such a lovely old building and such lovely staff. The food never disappoints its just very slow coming - although the staff are always so friendly. Very reasonably priced - and although part of a Marstons pub the choice was great. We will be back again I'm sure!

2nd visit here and on both occasions we have found the staff to be friendly and helpful. The food is typical pub food but its tasty and good value for money. We have sat outside on both occasions and the little play area is a hit with our 4 year old. We would return if in the area.

Room clean and comfortable, but food is prepared and not great. Chain pub with chain food and chain staff. It's not bad just wouldn't stay here if it wasn't one night work related. Breakfast was limited and not fresh, microwaved scramble, tough mushrooms, overcooked sausage and make your own tea from a thermos thing and PG Tips at that. Constant... More

Enjoyed lunch here on 3 August. Nice welcome, despite arriving just before the noon food service started. We chose from the "Two courses for £8 menu". Very nice prawn cocktail and onion ring starters, then burger, chips and onion rings, lasagne and vegetable pie in filou pastry. Attentive serving staff in a pleasant hotel with bar and restaurant. Handy if you... More

Driving home to YORK,via the Peak District and were struggling to find somewhere to eat. We called in to The Grouse and Claret and were so glad we did. We received a warm welcome. The service from the young lady was excellent. The food was lovely and good value. The toilets were clean. Really recommend and will visit again.

We stopped here for one night in our motorhome at the back of the pub. The site is clean and quiet. There is a large car park, children's play area and out side sitting/dining area. The staff are very friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of beer and food. The pub is close to a 'Peak' shopping area... More
