Relaxing, comfortable, friendly, clean, cosy, great food. It snowed and coming back to the open fire was perfect. Rooms were a little dated, but clean and had everything you needed, bed was very comfortable too. No doubt we will be back!

A relaxing, comfortable and friendly base from which to enjoy the stunning countryside. Good home prepared pub food, reasonable range of beers, homely bar with open fire, quiet seating areas, separate bar snack/breakfast eating area and smarter dining room. Plenty of reading material, local guide books etc. Plenty of space for boots at entrance. Staff absolutely wonderful - friendly, efficient,... More

A wonderful hotel in the middle of nowhere. The food seemed expensive for the quality. The rooms where clean and majority of staff very friendly. The whole stay was ok but didn't set my world on fire.

We arrived at about 5pm for a one night stay. Receptionist was friendly and efficient and within minutes we had been shown to our room, This was compact but had everything we needed and was clean and tidy. We took the opportunity to go into the bar and sit in front of a roaring fire range to have a pre-dinner... More

We stayed in October last year and can't wait to go back. This was a different style of mini break to that which we are used to (no mod-cons), but it is so beautiful, peaceful and relaxing in the middle of nowhere. I have rarely seen a place with such stunningly beautiful surroundings. The staff (and owners) are fantastic too.... More

We (couple and small dog) visited in October for two nights with a voucher deal, large enough car park, as soon as we walked in first impressions were very good, lovely and warm, old fashioned typical of a country inn, we were dealt with by a person on the reception efficiently who explained about breakfast etc, then directed us to... We went with a party of friends, and I was a little nervous having read other reviews. But no! we had a fabulous time. Warm comfy room, not large but loads of drawers, spotless bathroom, big towels, view of the rising sun from our bed was amazing. We didn't use the earplugs we'd taken. Tv was a bit small. Bar... Visited on 17/10/16. We did question as to whether to we wanted to eat at The Fat Lamb as, on entry, thought we'd stepped back in time due to the décor. However we asked to view the menu and were impressed by it's variety. The food and service are excellent; a total contrast to the behind the times décor of... More
