You know when you are racing from one part of the country to another to visit relatives or whatever and you pass somewhere interesting but don't have time to stop, and promise yourself, I will stop here one day, well we did just that, and what we found was wonderful. Rustic old world charm, friendly outgoing helpful staff, open fires,... More

We stayed on Burns Night weekend (Friday and Saturday nights). The bar has lots of old furniture, a lovely roaring fire and a selection of beers, bottled beers, wines and spirits. The staff are pleasant and helpful. All areas on the ground floor are accessible without steps so good for disabled people. The rooms in the adjoining annex are comfortable... More

Stayed for 2 nights on the BB & evening meal deal. Great hospitality, really good food with a large choice of locally sourced ingredients. Warm, clean comfortable room. What more could you ask for? Easy access to North Yorkshire moors and the Lake District. We will be back soon!

Just stayed one night, awful weather, arrived in the dark in bucketing rain. Warm cheerful welcome, cosy comfortable room with an en suite with a quirky sloping floor. Food was great - I recommend the tomato cheese cake. And my early start was catered for with an early breakfast at 7:45. Definitely one deserving another visit.

Stayed here due to cancellation of stay with friends due to sick children! Lovely welcome followed by wonderfully hot bath with aforementioned towels. Then very good dinner, I had tomato cheesecake, excellent, followed by steak pie then choc pud, and none of your nouvelle cuisine portions here. All home made and very tasty.

We have just returned from The Fat Lamb having spent 2 thoroughly enjoyable nights there. On Saturday we were cut off due to the floods and banished to the inn due to the high winds and driving rain; however, the staff were all friendly and helpful as we sat by the coal fire drinking well kept Black Sheep ale throughout... Fantastic value for money on a short break to the Lake District. A beautiful open log fire which was kept going from breakfast gave the inn a lovely cosy welcoming feel. All staff so polite Comfortable room with a fantastic big bath Beds were comfortable and rooms nicely warm throughout our stay. Inn is old but I love that it... More

Lovely to walk into The Fat Lamb to be met with a roaring fire. Me and my wife had some excellent beers and enjoyed a great sunday dinner. The lamb was beautiful and the Yorkshire Puddings had been home made. My Wife's Beef was a little tough, but edible all the same. It was also great value for Money £35... More

Having driven through many floods up from North Nottinghamshire we were warmly welcomed by the land lady in this dog friendly Pub. Whilst we enjoyed the Black a Sheep and flavoursome Sauvignon Blanc our dog was offered a bowl of fresh water. The Sunday lunch menu had a good choice and the Henry shoulder of Local lamb was served with... More

Bought on a Groupon deal at good value but not worth paying full rates! Our room was small and basic, the bathroom was in need of a makeover. The atmosphere in the pub and restaurant was warm and friendly and food quality is superb but let down by the basic rooms. Breakfast choice and quality excellent, Eggs Benedict to die... More
